Tata Curvv Overview

Anmol Kumar
Updated on March 23, 2026

The Tata Curvv distinguishes itself by pairing the raised ride height of an SUV with a sloping, fastback-style roofline. At 4308 mm long, 1810 mm wide, and 1630 mm tall, with a 2560 mm wheelbase, it's sized for Indian roads while the coupe profile keeps the design distinct from every conventional upright SUV around it.

Beneath this design, the Curvv offers a choice of three powertrains, a 1.2L Revotron petrol, a 1.2L Hyperion petrol, and a 1.5L Kryojet diesel. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission available across the range.

The equipment list for top-spec variants includes iRA connected car technology, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, and a suite of ADAS features. This technological focus is reinforced by the vehicle's safety credentials, as the Curvv earned a 5-star rating in the 2024 Bharat NCAP crash tests for both adult and child occupant protection.

Engine and Performance

The Curvv offers three engine options. The entry petrol is a 1.2L Revotron making 118 bhp at 5500 RPM and 170 Nm of torque between 1750 and 4000 RPM. The Hyperion engine is also 1.2L but produces 123 bhp at 5000 RPM and 225 Nm between 1750 and 3000 RPM.

Rounding out the lineup, the diesel is a 1.5L Kryojet delivering 116 bhp at 4000 RPM, with 260 Nm available across a broad band from 1500 to 2750 RPM, a wide torque spread that works well in stop-start city traffic.

Additionally, all three are offered with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCA (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox.

fuel economy

The 1.2L Revotron petrol engine delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.44 kmpl with the 6-speed manual transmission and 17.18 kmpl with the automatic.

For the 1.2L Hyperion petrol engine, officially published ARAI fuel efficiency figures have not been consistently disclosed across variants. However, user reported figures typically range between 11 kmpl and 14 kmpl depending on the variant and transmission.

The 1.5L Kryojet diesel engine is listed with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 22.40 kmpl. Also however, figures for diesel automatic variants vary, as they are not consistently reported.

All variants use a 44-litre fuel tank.

interior

Across all ranges except the base, the Curvv uses a Harman infotainment system that scales from 7 inches to 10.25 inches on the mid variant upward and 12.3 inches on the top variant. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay arrive from the mid variant. Audio ranges from 4 speakers to a 9-speaker JBL system with a dedicated subwoofer on the top.

Practicality is well covered, with a centre console armrest, rear arm-rest with cup holders, and an illuminated cooled glove box on mid variants. Boot space stands at 500 litres, and lower variants get a 100% fold-flat rear seat while upper variants add a 60:40 split with a reclining option.

Stepping up to the top-spec variants brings ventilated front seats, a 6-way powered driver's seat, wireless charging, twin-zone climate control, and an air purifier with AQI display.

exterior

The Curvv's defining feature is its sloping coupe roofline on a raised SUV stance. At 4308 mm long, 1810 mm wide, and 1630 mm tall, it is wider and lower-roofed than most upright compact SUVs in the segment.

The lighting setup scales with the variant. While LED headlamps and DRLs are standard, higher variants add bi-function full LED headlamps, LED fog lamps with a cornering function, and sequential turn indicators. For maximum curb appeal, the top variant gets sequential DRLs and tail lamps featuring welcome and goodbye light animations. Flush door handles with welcome lighting are standard throughout.

Other exterior details include a rear spoiler and shark fin antenna are fitted across the range with a dual-tone roof available on select top variants.

Finally, wheels run from R16 steel at the base through R17 and R18 diamond-cut alloys on upper variants.

safety

The Curvv earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating in 2024, scoring 29.50/32 for adult occupant protection, 14.65/16 on the frontal offset barrier test and 14.85/16 on the side movable barrier test and 43.66/49 for child occupant protection. ISOFIX anchor points were standard on both second-row outboard seats during the test.

Underpinning that rating, all variants are equipped with 6 airbags (dual frontal, side curtain covering all rows, and side chest airbags), ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Control, belt pretensioners and load limiters for front occupants, and seatbelt reminders at all seating positions.

The top variant builds on this with a 20-feature ADAS suite covering autonomous emergency braking in four scenarios (vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and junctions), lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control.

competition

Curvv’s closest rivals in its segment are the Hyundai Creta, Citroen Basalt, and Kia Seltos.

The Creta's 158 bhp 1.5L turbo-petrol is the most powerful petrol engine in the segment, ahead of the Curvv's 123 bhp Hyperion. Boot space, however, goes to the Curvv, as its 500-litre boot is second-best in the segment, against the Creta's smaller 433-litre capacity.

The only other coupe-SUV in the segment, the Basalt lacks modern tech like ADAS, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and ambient lighting that the Curvv carries. The Basalt is also the only model in the comparison to ride on 16-inch wheels, while the Curvv goes up to 18-inch alloys.

Finally, feature-rich and well-rounded, the top-spec ADAS variants of Seltos match the Curvv closely on technology, but the Curvv is the only mass-market car in India to offer a diesel engine paired with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, a combination neither the Seltos nor the Creta offers.
