Tata Harrier EV Overview

Updated on April 8, 2026

The Tata Harrier EV adapts its 4607 mm footprint with sleek aerodynamic styling, including a closed-off grille and signature connected LED light bars. Inside the spacious cabin, the focus lies on premium technology, boasting a 14.53-inch Samsung Neo QLED Harman display, immersive 10-speaker Dolby Atmos JBL audio, and iRA.ev connected services.

Practicality is enhanced with ventilated seating, a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, and a convenient front trunk.

Underneath, the platform houses 65kWh or 75kWh liquid-cooled IP67 batteries paired with single or dual electric motors. The flagship dual-motor Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) variant adds another motor in the front, helping the EV achieve 100kmph in just 6.3 seconds while claiming a 627km range.

Safety is highly prioritised, featuring a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, 7 airbags, and Level 2 ADAS. Buyers also receive a lifetime battery warranty and versatile V2L/V2V bi-directional charging.

Battery and Motor

The Harrier EV carries either a 65 kWh or 75 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack depending on the variant, both rated IP67 for dust and water protection. These power the rear axle across all variants, producing 234 hp and 315 Nm.

Meanwhile, the top AWD variant adds a high-performance induction motor on the front axle rated at 156 hp, bringing combined system torque up to 504 Nm.

The EV also offers multiple drive modes - Eco, City, and Sport modes, that are available across the range, with the AWD variant additionally offering a Boost mode.

In addition, terrain modes vary by variant -the base trim gets three (Normal, Wet, Rough), the mid-range adds a Custom option to make it four, and the top AWD variant expands this to six - Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Custom.

Range and Charging

On a full charge, the ARAI-certified range stands at 538 km for the 65 kWh version, 627 km for the 75 kWh RWD variant, and 622 km for the 75 kWh dual motor AWD. Tata's own internal estimates put real-world numbers between 420-445 km, 480-505 km, and 460-490 km respectively.

Charging wise, all variants charge via the CCS2 standard, and a portable charging cable is included. On a DC fast charger, the 65 kWh pack accepts up to 100 kW at 260A, while the 75 kWh variants support up to 120 kW at 300A. In both cases, charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 25 minutes.

For AC charging through a 7.2 kW wall box, the 65 kWh variant takes around 9.3 hours for a 10-100% charge, while the 75 kWh variants take approximately 10.7 hours. A standard 15A home socket is also a supported option for slower overnight charging.

The EV also supports bi-directional charging in both directions. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) at 3.3 kVA powers external appliances directly from the car, while Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) at 5 kVA allows the car to charge another compatible EV.

Note that both functions cut off at 30% state of charge, which acts as a protection floor for the battery.

interior

Access to the Harrier EV is managed by a proximity-based unlock system. Inside the cabin, multi-mood ambient lighting sets the tone alongside a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters. Also, the dashboard is built around two main displays - a 36.9 cm Harman touchscreen and a 26.03 cm digital driver cockpit.

These screens support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside built-in navigation that projects driver-view maps directly into the cockpit. The system also receives over-the-air updates and integrates multiple voice assistants.

Meanwhile, connected vehicle features are handled by the iRA.ev suite with smartwatch connectivity, while audio is delivered through a Dolby Atmos-supported 10-speaker JBL sound system.

On the comfort side, the seats are leatherette, with the front seats featuring ventilation with power adjustment and driver memory. Rear passengers are accommodated with dedicated B-pillar AC vents and a window sunshade. In addition, climate is managed via a dual-zone automatic temperature system operating alongside an onboard air purifier.

To round out the interior convenience, the cabin includes a wireless smartphone charger, fast-charge USB-C ports, and a cooled front armrest.

exterior

The Harrier EV balances a commanding footprint with everyday practicality, featuring a 600 mm water wading capacity, a 502-litre boot, and a 67-litre front trunk (frunk). Supporting the ride is a comfort-tuned suspension system paired with a choice of 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels.

The exterior profile can be highlighted by an optional dual-tone black roof and features auto-folding side mirrors with memory settings for everyday convenience. Whereas the illumination gets LED bi-projector headlamps and connected LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators.

Also for enhancing the tech appeal, a smart digital lighting system offers welcome and goodbye sequences and cleverly doubles as a charging indicator.

Lastly on higher trims, the exterior equipment list expands to include premium touches like a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof and a gesture-activated powered tailgate.

safety

The Harrier EV is equipped with 6 airbags as standard, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and all-wheel disc brakes with vacuum independent brake control architecture.

This setup also gets the electronic stability programme (ESP) with i-VBAC includes hill descent control, hill hold control, traction control, torque vectoring by brake, brake fade compensation, electronic brake force distribution, and after-impact braking.

Up the trim levels, higher variants add a knee airbag, a 360-degree 3D surround-view camera system, and front parking sensors. Furthermore, top variants integrate Level 2 ADAS, which cover adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, among others.

In terms of crash testing, the model received a 5-star rating from BNCAP, scoring full 32 out of 32 points for adult protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection.

competition

The Harrier EV’s closest rivals in its segment are the Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6.

Against the XEV 9e the Harrier EV provides higher cumulative torque of 504 Nm in its dual-motor form, six dedicated terrain modes including Rock Crawl and 600 mm water wading capacity, while the XEV 9e is noted for strong sales momentum and certain top-trim feature packaging.

Compared with the BE 6 the Harrier EV offers larger 502-litre boot space plus a frunk and a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty for private owners. The BE 6 counters with competitive positioning at the lower end of the price band and rapid year-on-year sales growth in the segment.
