The Tiago gets a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine which produces 85 hp at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm at 3300 rpm.

In bi-fuel CNG mode the same engine is rated at 74 hp and 96.5 Nm.

Both variants drive the front wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed AMT.

ARAI-certified mileage for the petrol manual is 19.01 kmpl and 19 kmpl for the AMT. CNG variants return 26.49 km/kg with the manual and 28.06 km/kg with the AMT.

Fuel tank wise, the petrol variant holds 35 litres. On the iCNG, the CNG cylinder carries a 60-litre water capacity and sits in the boot area.

The Tiago is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts with reminder on all seats, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability programme with hill-hold control on most variants.

Higher trims also add tyre-pressure monitoring.

Furthermore, it earned a 4-star rating for adult occupant protection and 3-star rating for child occupant protection in Global NCAP tests (2-airbag configuration).

The Tiago’s closely competes with the following rivals in its segment - the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Wagon R.

Against the Celerio, the Tiago stands out with its 4-star Global NCAP safety rating, while the Celerio has received a lower safety score under the same programme. The Tiago’s twin-cylinder CNG system also retains some usable boot space, unlike many conventional CNG layouts that significantly reduce luggage capacity.

Compared with the Wagon R, the Tiago offers a more powerful petrol engine than the Wagon R’s 1.0-litre variant, while also providing features such as wireless smartphone mirroring and a Harman-tuned infotainment system.

The Wagon R counters with a taller cabin and a larger 341-litre boot.
