There are three powertrains in the 2025 Fronx. The 1.2L DualJet petrol makes 90 PS and 113 Nm, available with a 5-speed MT or 5-speed AMT. The 1.0L BoosterJet turbo-petrol delivers 100 PS and 148 Nm, with a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter AT. Lastly, the 1.2L CNG makes 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm, only with a 5-speed MT. 

In our tests, the turbo MT hit 0-100 kmph in 10.7 seconds. Top speed is around 160 kmph (turbo). Claimed mileage is 21.79 kmpl (turbo MT), 22.89 kmpl (1.2L AMT), and 28.51 km/kg (CNG). Real-world mileage ranges from 18–20 kmpl (petrol) and 26–27 km/kg (CNG). The turbo engine is eager in the mid-range, while the 1.2L is smoother and more efficient. The CNG feels underpowered with a full load but works well in traffic. i3s and idle start-stop help sip fuel smartly.

Ride and Handling

The Fronx rides on a Heartect platform with MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam rear. Ride quality is slightly firm, especially at low speeds over sharp bumps. It smooths out above 40 kmph and handles highway stretches confidently. 

Steering is light and city-friendly, but weighs up decently at 100+ kmph. The 2,520 mm wheelbase gives good stability, and 190 mm clearance handles potholes and uneven roads without bottoming out. Braking is progressive, with discs up front and drums at the rear. On twisty roads, the Fronx stays planted—there’s some roll, but less than taller rivals like the Punch. Turbo variants feel more agile, while the AMT shows typical hesitations in traffic. Overall, it’s well-tuned for everyday Indian driving.

Inside, the Fronx blends modern styling with compact practicality. The dual-tone black-maroon theme (Zeta and Alpha) pairs with chrome and gloss black elements. The 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and there’s a wireless charger, automatic climate control, and cruise control too. Delta+ and above get a rear-view camera and connected car tech. 

Front seats are wide and cushioned, and the driver gets tilt-adjust steering and height-adjustable seat (Delta+ up). Rear seat space is okay for two adults, tight for three. Knee room is around 900 mm, headroom is limited due to the sloping roof. The 308-litre boot handles city needs, but CNG variants lose usable depth. Rear AC vents and fast charging ports help family duties, though it’s no XL6 on space.

The 2025 Fronx brings a sharp, coupe-SUV-inspired design to Maruti’s lineup. Its front fascia wears a slim LED DRL strip, triple-barrel projector headlamps, and a wide grille with chrome accents. The sloping roofline flows into a chunky rear with connected LED tail lamps and a faux skid plate. On the turbo variants, the bumpers look sportier with contrast inserts.’

 The 16-inch alloys (Zeta and Alpha) add stance, while lower trims get simpler covers. Nine paint choices include dual-tone options like Opulent Red with Black Roof, which pop in traffic. Inside, a black and maroon dashboard greets you on higher variants, with a floating 9-inch display and silver touches. Fit and finish feel a step above the Baleno, though hard plastics dominate. It leans more urban flair than off-road brawn.

The Fronx has not yet been tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP as of April 2025. Still, safety features are fairly robust on top trims. The Zeta and Alpha variants come with six airbags, while others get dual front airbags. ABS with EBD, ESP, and Hill Hold Control are standard. You also get a 360-degree camera and rear parking sensors from Zeta upwards. 

The CNG version includes fire-retardant materials around the tank. ISOFIX mounts are standard. The 190 mm ground clearance helps it clear broken roads and speed bumps without scraping. Tyres are 195/60 R16 on alloys (Zeta/Alpha) or 185/65 R15 on steel wheels (Sigma/Delta), offering decent grip, though wet-road feedback could be better. There’s no ADAS or radar tech here—purely conventional safety.

he Fronx competes in the crowded sub-4m SUV space. The Tata Punch offers a 1.2L petrol with 5-star GNCAP safety and a 366-litre boot, though it's less peppy and lacks a turbo. The Maruti Brezza gets a 1.5L petrol (103 PS) with more space and road presence, but feels bulkier.

The Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet both offer 1.0L turbo-petrols, more features (like Level 2 ADAS in Venue), and better infotainment. The Renault Kiger also gets a 1.0L turbo (100 PS) with a 405-litre boot and 4-star GNCAP, giving it an edge in practicality. The Fronx shines with its 1.0L turbo performance, 22+ kmpl efficiency, smart styling, and wide service reach—though others edge it on boot size or cabin space.

The 2025 Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a youthful and efficient sub-4m SUV. With a stylish design, peppy 1.0L turbo, 22+ kmpl efficiency, and rich features, it appeals to urban buyers. It misses out on a diesel, ADAS, or expansive rear seat, but makes up with Maruti’s service network and affordability. The ride is firm, and boot space is average, but for city dwellers chasing style, safety, and daily usability, the Fronx holds its own.
