The compact SUV segment has long been popular, and this trend continued into February 2026.
These SUVs, measuring between 4 and 4.5 metres in length, posted total sales of 69,531 units, reflecting a healthy 47.77% year-on-year increase compared to 47,055 units in February 2025.
Based on the latest sales figures, here are the top ten most popular compact SUVs among car buyers.

Hyundai Creta
The Hyundai Creta remained the segment leader by selling 17,938 units in February 2026, recording a steady 9.93% year-on-year growth from 16,317 units the previous year.
It comes with three 1.5-litre engines - a naturally aspirated petrol, a T-GDI petrol, and a diesel, paired with a manual and various automatic transmissions.
The Creta stands out with its panoramic sunroof, twin 10.25-inch displays, Level-2 ADAS features, ventilated front seats, Bose sound system, and a premium cabin.
Maruti Victoris
The Maruti Victoris, a fresh entrant, achieved 13,021 units in February.
It offers a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, a strong-hybrid petrol-electric system, and factory CNG variants paired with manual or automatic gearboxes.
Key strengths include the innovative under-floor CNG tank preserving boot space, Level 2 ADAS, optional all-wheel drive, a 5-star Bharat and Global NCAP rating, and excellent mileage.

Kia Seltos
Kia Seltos registered 10,308 units in February 2026, posting an impressive 59.91% year-on-year jump from 6,446 units sold in the same month last year.
Powertrain lineup consists of 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines matched to manual and automatic options.
The Seltos impresses with its large panoramic sunroof, dual-screen setup, Level 2 ADAS suite, ventilated seats, generous interior space, and bold exterior design.
Toyota Hyryder
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder delivered 9,359 units in February 2026, recording an exceptional 116.94% year-on-year growth over 4,314 units in February 2025.
It is offered with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, a strong-hybrid petrol-electric system, and factory CNG variants, paired to a 5-speed manual and automatic options.
Standout features include hybrid-specific drive modes, premium cabin finish, connected-car technology, comprehensive safety equipment, and a refined ride that suits both urban commutes and longer highway journeys.

The Tata Sierra, another new model, sold 7,100 units in February.

The Maruti Grand Vitara managed 5,859 units in February 2026, showing a 45.08% year-on-year decline from 10,669 units in the corresponding period last year.
Available options include 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, strong-hybrid, and CNG powertrains with manual and automatic gearbox choices.

This all-electric SUV features 59 kWh or 79 kWh battery packs delivering between 228 hp and 282 hp, single or dual-motor configurations, and fast-charging capability with claimed range up to 683 km.
It stands out with premium interior materials, Level 2 ADAS, strong performance with long driving range, and contemporary technology.
Volkswagen Taigun
Volkswagen Taigun closed the top 10 with 698 units sold in February 2026.
It is offered with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, providing lively performance and available with manual or automatic transmissions.
