Tata Motors has launched the updated Tiago facelift at a starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh ex-showroom, giving the hatchback its biggest upgrade in years. The new model gets redesigned exterior styling, a heavily revised cabin, larger infotainment system, improved safety package, and more technology across variants.

Tata has retained the familiar 1.2-litre petrol and CNG powertrains, but now offers AMT gearbox options with both fuels, including paddle shifters on the CNG-AMT. With six airbags now standard, dual wireless chargers, connected car tech, and a more modern dashboard layout, the Tiago feels significantly more upmarket than the outgoing model.

Engine and Performance

The Tiago facelift continues with Tata’s 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. In petrol form, it produces 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque, while the factory-fitted CNG version develops 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT with both fuel options.

The biggest talking point is the CNG-AMT combination, which remains extremely rare in this segment. Tata also continues with its twin-cylinder CNG technology, placing two smaller cylinders under the boot floor instead of one large cylinder behind the rear seats, freeing up usable luggage space.

Ground clearance stands at 170 mm for petrol variants and 168 mm for CNG versions, making the hatchback reasonably usable over broken roads and speed breakers.

interior

The facelifted Tiago looks noticeably sharper without changing its overall proportions. Up front, Tata has added slimmer LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, a redesigned grille, chunkier bumper cladding, and revised fog lamp housings that make the hatchback appear wider and lower.

The profile gets fresh 15-inch alloy wheel designs along with blacked-out B-pillars, while the rear now features connected-look LED tail lamps, a cleaner bumper design, and a subtler roof spoiler.

Unlike many budget hatchbacks that still look plain, the new Tiago finally has some visual character, especially in colours like Varanasi Vibrance and SoBo Surge. Despite the sporty treatment, it still keeps practical dimensions for crowded city roads and tight parking spaces.

Interior Features

The cabin has received the biggest transformation. The old curved dashboard has been replaced with a flatter and cleaner layout that feels far more modern.

The highlight is the new 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paired with a fully digital instrument cluster that supports Bluetooth connectivity. Tata has also added dual wireless phone chargers, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, cruise control, cooled glovebox, connected car technology, rear USB charging ports, auto-folding ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, ambient lighting, push-button start-stop, and a 4-speaker sound system.

AMT variants now get a rotary gear selector, while the CNG-AMT also gets paddle shifters, something no direct rival currently offers. The cabin still uses hard plastics in many areas, but the new textures and layered dashboard design make it feel far less utilitarian than before.

safety

Safety is now one of the Tiago’s biggest strengths. Tata has made six airbags standard across the entire lineup, something still uncommon at this price point.

Other safety equipment includes electronic stability control, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, rear parking sensors, blind-view monitor, rollover mitigation, torque vectoring, and a newly added 360-degree camera.

Higher variants additionally get automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. The Tiago already had a reputation for solid structural safety, and the added electronics now make the package feel much more complete instead of barebones.

Warranty

Tata Motors is offering the Tiago facelift with a standard 3-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. Buyers can also opt for extended warranty packages depending on variant and ownership requirements. The factory-fitted iCNG system is covered under the standard vehicle warranty itself, which is a major advantage over aftermarket CNG kits

competition

The Tata Tiago facelift competes against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki WagonR, and Maruti Suzuki Celerio. The Swift remains the more refined and driver-focused option, the Grand i10 Nios offers a more polished petrol engine, while the WagonR prioritises cabin space and fuel efficiency. The Tiago counters with a stronger safety package, more tech features, and the unique combination of CNG with an AMT gearbox.
