The Altroz comes with three engine choices. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol makes 87 hp at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm at 3250 rpm. In iCNG form the same unit produces 72.5 hp and 103 Nm on CNG.

Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged Revotorq diesel generates 89 hp and 200 Nm.

As for transmission options, all engine types are offered with a 5-speed manual, with an addition of a 5-speed AMT and a 6-speed DCA on select petrol variants.

ARAI-certified figures for the petrol variants stand at 19.33 kmpl, the diesel at 23.64 kmpl and the iCNG at 26.2 km/kg.

The fuel tank capacity for petrol and diesel variants is 37 litre, while the iCNG model uses a 60-litre water equivalent tank.

The Altroz’s cabin dashboard adopts a layered layout with clearly marked controls and storage bins. At the driver's seat, the steering wheel integrates mounted audio and cruise controls on a flat-bottom design.

Behind it, the instrument cluster begins as a 10.16 cm digital display, steps up to a 17.78 cm digital unit, and tops out at a 26.03 cm HD unit with map integration and blind-spot monitoring on the range-topping trim.

In the center, infotainment starts with a 17.78 cm Harman touchscreen and scales to a 26.03 cm HD unit offering 360-degree surround view, navigation and smartphone mirroring.

For comfort, front seats provide height adjustment for the driver and supportive cushioning, while rear seating adds adjustable headrests, armrest with cup holders and good knee room for three adults.

Adding to this, practical touches include rear AC vents, 65 W charging ports and a parcel shelf that keeps the cabin organised.

Further back, boot space measures 345 litres on petrol and diesel variants. However, the iCNG variant only accommodates 210 litres due to the CNG cylinder placement.

Exterior wise up front, the Altroz displays projector headlamps (LED on higher trims) with integrated DRLs and a sculpted grille.

Along the side, the body shows flush door handles, a rising shoulder line, riding on 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/60 rubber.

At the rear, connected LED tail lamps and a shark-fin antenna complete the clean, modern look.

Tying it all together, overall length of 3990 mm, width of 1755 mm and height of 1523 mm give balanced proportions, while 165 mm ground clearance is meant to handle light bad roads and speed breakers.

Safety wise, at the Altroz’s core, the ALFA body structure with ultra-high strength steel forms the core of its crash performance.

Supporting this, 6 airbags are standard, along with electronic stability programme, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors and tyre-pressure monitoring.

Regarding crash test, the Altroz holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating with 29.65/32 for adult occupant protection and 44.90/49 for child protection.

The Altroz has the following close rivals in its segment, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20.

The Baleno offers superior fuel efficiency with its petrol variant returning 22.35 kmpl (manual) and CNG at 30.61 km/kg, along with Maruti’s extensive service network and lower ownership costs. The Altroz counters with a 1.5-litre diesel option (23.60 kmpl) and maintains a larger 345-litre boot space compared to the Baleno’s 318 litres.

The i20 provides a more premium cabin feel with petrol engine options and a smoother IVT gearbox. However, the Altroz leads with a confirmed 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (while the i20 holds 3-star Global NCAP and 4-star Bharat NCAP) and six airbags plus ESP across the range.

In addition, boot space favours the Altroz at 345 litres versus the i20’s 311 litres.
