Tata Tigor Overview

Updated on April 15, 2026

The Tata Tigor adopts the brand’s impact design language, characterised by a coupe-like roofline and a sculpted rear profile that differentiates it from typical entry-level sedans.

It is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that produces 85 hp and 113 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT.

The sedan is also offered with Tata’s factory-fitted iCNG technology, where the engine produces 74 hp and is paired with a manual gearbox.

In terms of equipment, the Tigor offers features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, and a Harman-tuned audio system.

Safety wise, equipment includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

Additionally, it achieved a 4-star rating for adult occupant protection from Global NCAP.

Engine and Performance

The Tata Tigor uses a 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 85 hp at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm at 3300 rpm.

Meanwhile, in CNG mode the same engine delivers 74 hp and 96.5 Nm.

Both variants are paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.

fuel economy

The Tata Tigor’s ARAI-certified figures are 19.28 kmpl for the petrol manual and 19.6 kmpl for the petrol AMT.

In CNG mode the manual returns 26.49 km/kg while the AMT achieves 28.06 km/kg.

interior

The Tigor’s dashboard uses a layered design with a high-mounted centre stack and dual-tone finish. Ahead of it, the steering wheel carries audio and phone controls on all but the base trim, while the instrument cluster is a fully digital or advanced digital unit.

For connectivity, infotainment is a Harman system that ranges up to a 26.03 cm floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB ports and Bluetooth.

Moving to comfort, front seats are fabric-clad with height adjustment for the driver and offer good thigh support. Also, rear passengers get USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports, while the front occupants get a USB Type-C port on top variants, and magazine pockets on the front seatbacks.

In the back, the rear bench includes a centre armrest with cupholders on higher trims and enough knee room for adults.

Finally, the petrol Tigor offers 419 litres of boot space, while the CNG variant has no usable boot space due to the cylinder placement.

exterior

The Tigor at the front gets a wide grille flanked by LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights on higher trims and Follow-Me-Home headlamps on the base variants.

Along the side, the design is clean with a high shoulder line, body-coloured door handles and 14- or 15-inch alloy wheels shod with 175-section tyres.

At the back, the rear features a high-mounted stop lamp, LED taillights on top variants and a neatly integrated boot lid that keeps the compact 3995 mm length looking balanced.

Additionally, a boot lip spoiler is fitted as standard across the range.

safety

The Tata Tigor received a Global NCAP 4-star rating for adult occupant protection and 3-star for child occupant protection in the 2020 test with two airbags.

Safety equipment across the range includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.

Meanwhile, higher trims add an electronic stability programme, hill-hold control, tyre-pressure monitoring system and a rear parking camera.

Additionally, the top trim gets a 360-degree surround-view camera system for low-speed manoeuvring.

competition

The Tata Tigor’s closely competes with the following rivals in the segment, namely the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.

The Tigor matches the Dzire on CNG availability but leads with a 419-litre boot against the Dzire’s 378 litres. The Dzire counters with slightly higher ARAI mileage and Maruti’s larger dealer network.

Against the Aura, the Tigor gets a bi-fuel CNG-AMT option and the same 4-star safety score, whereas the Aura leads ahead on some base-variant features such as standard touchscreen size but lacks the Tigor’s boot-space advantage.

Compared to the Amaze, the Tigor provides the CNG powertrain choice and stronger safety rating while the Amaze offers a smoother CVT gearbox and marginally better rear headroom.
