The Maruti Suzuki Arena Celerio is built for Indian city conditions, where tight parking, heavy traffic, and rising fuel costs matter most. It targets first-time buyers and small families looking for an easy-to-drive commuter with low running costs.

It uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 67.5 hp and 91.1 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or Auto Gear Shift (AGS). A factory-fitted CNG version is also available for better running economy. ARAI-claimed efficiency reaches up to 26 km/l for petrol and 34.43 km/kg for CNG.

Inside, the cabin seats five and offers practical touches like 60:40 split rear seats and a 292-litre boot. Higher variants add a 7-inch Smartplay Studio touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the safety side, features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and reverse parking sensors.

Additionally, with light controls, compact dimensions, and Maruti’s wide service network, the Celerio focuses on efficiency and easy everyday usability.

Engine and Performance

The Celerio uses Maruti Suzuki’s K10C 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which in petrol form produces 67.5 hp at 5600 rpm and 91.1 Nm at 3400 rpm.

Meanwhile, the CNG variant develops 56 hp and 82.1 Nm in CNG mode.

This power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox or the Auto Gear Shift automated manual transmission.

fuel economy

ARAI-certified mileage for petrol variants stands at 25.24 km/l for the base model with manual transmission, 24.97 km/l for several mid-spec models, and 26.00 km/l for the top AGS variants.

The CNG variant on the other hand returns 34.43 km/kg.

In addition, an electric accelerator pedal and idle start-stop system are standard, aiding the car’s fuel efficiency.

interior

The Celerio’s dashboard uses hard plastics with silver-painted accents around the dial-type climate control and reddish amber backlighting for a clean, functional look. The steering wheel is urethane-clad and tilt-adjustable on most variants, with audio and voice controls on higher trims.

Behind it, the instrument cluster includes a tachometer, instantaneous and average fuel consumption readouts, distance-to-empty display, gear position indicator on AGS models, and standard warnings for door ajar, low fuel, and headlamps.

Centrally, infotainment is handled by the Smartplay Studio 7-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with USB, FM, AUX, Bluetooth, and four speakers on mid and top models.

Seating wise, the seats use fabric upholstery with integrated headrests all round. The driver’s seat gains height adjustment on top trims, front passenger seatback pockets are standard, and the rear bench offers 60:40 split folding.

At the rear, occupants get adequate legroom and headroom for two adults, and dedicated bottle holders, while the parcel shelf keeps small items hidden.

exterior

From the front, the Celerio gets a chrome-accented grille flanked by halogen headlights with manual levelling and body-coloured bumpers; front fog lamps appear on top trims.

Along the side, body-coloured door handles and electrically adjustable ORVMs (electrically foldable on higher variants) give a neat appearance, while blacked-out B-pillar tape and 15-inch alloy wheels on the top trims add visual interest.

Supporting this, tyre sizes are 165/70 R14 on most variants and 175/60 R15 on the top petrol model.

At the rear, the body-coloured bumper houses a high-mounted stop lamp, with rear wiper, washer, and defogger available on top trims.

safety

6 airbags (dual front, side, and curtain) are standard across the Celerio’s range, along with ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters for driver and co-driver, three-point seatbelts for all seats, hill-hold assist on AGS variants, speed-sensitive auto door lock, impact-sensing auto door unlock, and reverse parking sensors.

However, in Global NCAP crash tests conducted in 2025, the 6-airbag version achieved 3 stars for adult occupant protection and 2 stars for child occupant protection.

The dual-airbag version scored even lower.

competition

The Celerio closely competes with the following rivals in its segment, namely the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Tata Tiago.

Against the Wagon R, the Celerio offers marginally better ARAI mileage (25.24 km/l vs 24.35 km/l in comparable petrol manual form) and a lighter kerb weight that aids city agility, while the Wagon R counters with a taller cabin for easier ingress, more headroom, and a larger 335-341 litre boot versus the Celerio’s 292 litres.

Versus the Tata Tiago, the Celerio leads in fuel efficiency (25+ km/l petrol vs 19 km/l) and lighter weight, but the Tiago provides a more solid build feel, higher equipment levels in several areas, and a four-star Global NCAP rating from its earlier test.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio mileage

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio mileage ranges from 25.24 to 26.68 kmpl and 34.43 km/kg. The Manual Petrol variant has an ARAI mileage of 25.24 kmpl. The Automatic Petrol variant has an ARAI mileage of 26.68 kmpl. The Manual CNG variant has an ARAI mileage of 34.43 km/kg.
