Mahindra Bolero Overview

Updated on March 30, 2026

The Mahindra Bolero has remained in continuous production through periodic mechanical and feature refreshes while keeping its core ladder-frame construction intact. The current Bolero Classic follows this formula, using upright proportions and a 2680 mm wheelbase to remain manoeuvrable yet roomy enough for seven adults in a 5+2 configuration. Within its 3995 mm overall length, the design prioritizes ground clearance and load-carrying ability over aerodynamic flair.

To support these requirements, the mHawk75 1.5-litre diesel powers the car, which generates 76 hp and 210 Nm. This sturdy mechanical focus is reflected in the exterior details, where side cladding, a spare-wheel cover, and 15-inch wheels complete the vehicle's purposeful appearance.

The cabin features storage pockets, bottle holders, and a straightforward layout that suits both personal and commercial use. In addition, standard equipment includes air conditioning, power steering, USB-C ports, and reverse parking sensors, with a touchscreen infotainment system provided on most variants.

Engine and Performance

Power for the Bolero comes exclusively from a 1.5L three-cylinder mHawk75 diesel engine, which generates 76 hp at 3600 rpm and delivers peak torque of 210 Nm between 1600 and 2200 rpm. The setup uses a 5-speed manual transmission sending drive to the rear wheels.

fuel economy

ARAI-certified mileage stands at up to 16.7 kmpl for the Bolero’s manual diesel engine, featuring a 60-litre fuel tank.

interior

The Bolero’s interior dashboard follows a simple, driver-focused layout with clearly marked controls and open storage areas, anchored by a 17.8 cm touchscreen infotainment system for media and connectivity, and the instrument cluster, which displays the essential reading to the driver.

Seating wise, the cabin accommodates seven seats finished in vinyl, fabric, or leatherette upholstery, all supported by RideFlo Tech suspension tuning for improved comfort. Within this space, the first row includes seatback mobile-holder pouches, while front map pockets and various utility spaces add extra convenience.

The focus on utility continues for rear passengers, who get bottle holders on the door trims and additional storage. To round out the practical features, select versions add a rear wash and wiper for better visibility.

exterior

Defined by a boxy silhouette, the Bolero measures 3995mm in length, 1745mm in width, and 1880mm in height. This upright design utilizes a 2680mm wheelbase to maximise interior space while maintaining a ground clearance of 180mm.

At the front, it has a prominent grille finished in either a black or chrome bezel, flanked by projector headlamps and fog lamps. Moving along the sides, protective body cladding runs across the lower doors and wheel arches to guard against stone chips and debris.

Filling these arches are 15-inch wheels, available either as steel rims with caps or diamond-cut alloy wheels, paired with 215/75 R15 tyres that aim to balance on-road comfort with light off-road capability.

The utility extends to the rear, where a full-size spare wheel is externally mounted on the tailgate. This practical setup also accommodates a rear wash and wipe function on equipped models.

safety

The Bolero’s safety package covers basic active and passive safety needs for the segment but lacks ADAS such as electronic stability control or side airbags in standard form.

Standard safety equipment includes anti-lock braking system (ABS) with EBD, driver and co-driver airbags, engine immobiliser, reverse parking sensors and seat-belt reminder for the front seats.

Note that no Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP rating is published for this exact model so far, though other Bolero-family vehicles like the Bolero Neo have recorded lower scores in structural and chest protection areas during earlier tests.

competition

The Bolero’s closest direct competitors are the Mahindra Bolero Neo and the Renault Triber.

The Bolero Neo offers a more compact overall length and slightly refined cabin materials, yet the standard Bolero counters with its longer 2680 mm wheelbase that translates into better rear-seat space and stability when carrying seven passengers or cargo.

The Triber provides modular seating arrangements and a wider range of modern convenience features, while the Bolero leads with its 210 Nm diesel torque, body-on-frame construction and higher load-carrying ability on rough roads.

Neither rival matches the Bolero’s long-term parts availability and proven fleet-duty record in rural and commercial applications.
