The Mahindra BE 6 is built on Mahindra's in-house INGLO platform. It sits in the mid-size electric SUV space but takes a distinctly sportier shape than most of its competition.

On the outside, it follows a fastback-style silhouette with a sloping roofline, flush door handles on higher variants, and a two-tone cladding finish. The front end uses bi-LED headlamps with DRLs on most trims, while the upper variants get the more distinctive C-shaped LED DRL signature.

Inside, every variant gets twin 12.3-inch screens in a floating layout, paired with Mahindra's MAIA software platform. Higher trims bring in a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system, leatherette upholstery, and an AR-based head-up display.

Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor paired with either a 59 kWh or 79 kWh battery, claiming ARAI ranges of 556 km and 682 km respectively. The BE 6 earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, scoring 31.97 out of 32 for adult occupant protection.

It is available in seven exterior colours, with five variants in the lineup.

Battery and Motor

The BE 6 features a single rear-mounted 3-in-1 electric motor, with power output determined by the selected battery pack. The 59 kWh variant generates 228 hp and 380 Nm of torque, while the 79 kWh version produces 282 hp and the same 380 Nm of torque.

The vehicle is exclusively rear-wheel drive, and an all-wheel-drive option is not available. The 79 kWh model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

The drivetrain includes multiple drive modes, such as Range, Everyday, and Sport, alongside multi-step regenerative braking and a single-pedal driving function.

Range and Charging

The BE 6 has an ARAI-certified range of 556 km for the 59 kWh battery and 682 km for the 79 kWh battery.

Both battery options can charge from 20 to 80 percent in 20 minutes using DC fast charging, requiring a 140 kW input for the 59 kWh pack and a 180 kW input for the 79 kWh pack. For AC charging, the 59 kWh battery takes 6 hours using an 11.2 kW charger and 8.7 hours on a 7.2 kW charger.

The 79 kWh battery requires 8 hours and 11.7 hours, respectively, using the same chargers. The vehicle utilizes a standard CCS2 charging port.

interior

Inside the BE 6, all variants feature a floating twin 12.3-inch screen setup running the MAIA platform. This system includes 5G connectivity, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and over 30 pre-installed applications. Base models are equipped with a 6-speaker audio system, while mid and upper trims upgrade to a 16-speaker Harman Kardon setup with Dolby Atmos.

Standard cabin equipment across the range includes a height-adjustable driver's seat, tilt and telescopic steering, and automatic climate control. Mid-range trims add an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, a front wireless phone charger, and NFC key support.

The top variants include dual wireless charging pads, ventilated front seats, a 6-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, and touch-enabled controls on the steering wheel and center console.

Seating material is fabric on base models and leatherette on upper trims, with the leatherette extending to the interior trim and steering wheel. A fixed panoramic glass roof is included from the second variant upward, and the top trim adds multi-color ambient lighting.

Storage capacity includes a 455-litre rear boot and an additional front trunk (frunk).

exterior

The BE 6 measures 4,371 mm in length, 1,907 mm in width, and 1,627 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. Its unladen ground clearance is 207 mm. The vehicle has a fastback coupe-SUV body style, defined by a sloping rear roofline and lower-body exterior cladding.

Standard front illumination consists of bi-LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs), while upper variants are equipped with C-shaped LED DRLs. An illuminated Mahindra logo is standard across all models.

Wheel options start at 18 inches with aero covers on the entry trim, moving to 19-inch wheels with aero covers on mid trims, and 19-inch alloy wheels on upper variants. Higher trims also feature electric flush door handles.

At the rear, standard LED tail lamps are replaced by C-shaped LED tail lamps on upper variants, and sequential turn indicators are included from the mid-range trim onward.

safety

The BE 6 achieved a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, with scores of 31.97 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection.

Standard safety equipment across all variants includes six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes with brake-by-wire technology, an electronic brake booster, driver drowsiness detection, an electronic stability program (ESP), a rear-view camera with parking sensors, a basic tire pressure monitoring system, and an electronic parking brake.

Mid-range trims add Level 2 ADAS utilizing one radar and one camera, along with individual tire pressure readouts, front fog lamps, and cornering lamps.

The top-tier variant includes Level 2+ ADAS with five radars and one camera, adding functions such as automatic lane change, lane centering, emergency steering assist, and cross-traffic alert. This trim also includes a 360-degree camera, an automatic parking assist system, and a seventh knee airbag.

competition

The primary competitors for the BE 6 include the Tata Curvv EV, the Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

The Curvv EV has a lower starting price and is supported by Tata's service network. In comparison, the BE 6 has a longer claimed driving range, higher motor output, and additional equipment in its upper trims.

The Creta Electric utilizes Hyundai's existing vehicle platform and dealer network. When comparing similar trim levels, the BE 6 provides a higher power output, a longer driving range, and an independently verified 5-star Bharat NCAP rating.

The e Vitara, built on the Heartect-e platform, is supported by Maruti's service network and offers an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. While the BE 6 is restricted to a rear-wheel-drive configuration, it offers a longer driving range and a larger list of features across its variants.
