The Mahindra Thar.e is a radical departure from the traditional off-roader, built on the dedicated INGLO-P1 monocoque platform rather than a ladder-frame chassis. Globally showcased as a five-door concept, the production version to have a 60–75 kWh battery pack, promising a real-world range of 400 km to 500 km, and a dual-motor AWD setup producing roughly 250 hp (186 kW). 

Th concept shown had a "neo-retro" aesthetic, specifically the square LED "pixel" headlamps and a massive 300 mm ground clearance that outperforms almost every electric SUV in its class.  

In India, the Thar.e launch is officially confirmed but has seen a strategic shift; while initial rumors pointed to 2026, Mahindra’s latest earnings calls confirm the production model will debut in mid-2027. T

This delay allows Mahindra to prioritize the launch of the XEV and BE series models first. It is expected to be priced between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh, positioning it as a premium lifestyle alternative to the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. Unlike the ICE Thar, this will be a global product, with Mahindra already eyeing markets in South Africa and Australia for its first international electric off-road foray
