The mid-size electric SUV segment is still a new one in the country, with limited options in the mass market segment. If we talk about three-row SUVs, we are left with even fewer options.
We take a look at these models, highlighting their seating layouts, battery specifications, and safety features.
| Electric SUV | Price (₹ lakh) |
|---|---|
| Mahindra XEV 9S | 19.95 – 30.20 |
| Tesla Model Y L | 61.99 |
Mahindra XEV 9S

The XEV 9S is Mahindra's first dedicated three-row electric SUV, utilising the new INGLO platform.
It is available with battery packs ranging from 59kWh to 79kWh, with the latter offering a range of up to 679 km under MIDC testing.
It gets unique features like seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, Secure 360 surveillance, and all-wheel disc brakes standard.

Tesla Model Y L

The new Tesla Model Y L is a long-wheelbase version of the standard Model Y, specifically configured with three rows of seating with a 6-seater (2+2+2) layout.
It comes standard with a Dual-Motor AWD powertrain and a WLTP-rated range of 681 km.
The Model Y L gets 9 airbags as standard, blind-spot monitoring, and emergency braking. A unique safety addition for the Indian model is the adaptive suspension system that improves stability when the vehicle is fully loaded.
Though these are the only two options as of now, the XEV 9S is expected to get a direct rival, as the Tata Safari EV is expected to launch this year.
