Mahindra CEO has confirmed that the new BE 07 model will be unveiled sometime in Q1 of 2027

“We have codenamed B07; it probably won’t be launched with that name. So, B07 will come in some part of calendar 2027. We believe that will be a very big volume driver on top of what we are doing with our current three products. So, that is what we are expecting as a 2027 launch.” Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO Mahindra & Mahindra

The Mahindra BE 07 represents a significant shift for the Indian automaker as it moves away from internal combustion engine (ICE) derived platforms to a dedicated electric vehicle architecture known as INGLO. This SUV is part of the "Born Electric" series and is designed to sit between the compact BE 05 and the flagship BE 09. Measuring approximately 4,565mm in length, the BE 07 is expected to cater to premium family buyers who require more space than a mid-size SUV but want the efficiency and performance of a modern EV. Unlike the XUV400, which shares its roots with the XUV300, the BE 07 is built from the ground up to maximize the benefits of an electric powertrain, such as a flat floor, longer wheelbase, and better weight distribution. The vehicle is likely to feature a high-tech cabin with a focus on digitalization and connectivity, making it a direct competitor to upcoming electric SUVs from Tata Motors and global brands. Mahindra expects the INGLO platform to provide world-class safety and performance standards, ensuring the BE 07 is ready for both urban commutes and long-distance highway travel. With its October 2026 debut, this model will be a cornerstone of Mahindra’s strategy to capture the premium EV market in India.

Battery and Motor

The Mahindra BE 07 will be powered by the modular INGLO platform, which is designed to accommodate different battery sizes and motor configurations. Buyers can expect two battery pack options: a 60kWh unit for those prioritizing city use and a larger 80kWh pack for long-distance travel.

These batteries are likely to use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which is known for its durability and safety in hot Indian weather conditions. On a full charge, the 80kWh version is expected to deliver a real-world driving range of 435km to 500km. In terms of performance, the BE 07 will likely offer a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup as standard, with power outputs ranging from 230hp to 285hp. This will allow the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in approximately 7 to 8 seconds.

For those seeking even more power, an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant could be offered later with dual motors. Charging speeds are expected to be industry-leading, with the vehicle supporting up to 175kW DC fast charging. This technology may allow the battery to charge from 5% to 80% in just about 30 minutes, significantly reducing wait times at highway charging stations and making the BE 07 a viable replacement for an ICE vehicle.

interior

Inside the cabin, the Mahindra BE 07 is expected to offer one of the most technologically advanced environments in its segment. The highlight of the dashboard is likely to be a massive triple-screen setup that spans nearly the entire width of the car.

This configuration usually consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger to control media and navigation. Mahindra is likely to skip most physical buttons in favor of touch-sensitive controls and voice commands to create a clean, minimalist look. The INGLO platform’s flat floor will likely provide excellent legroom for all five passengers, making it a very practical choice for families.

Premium materials such as soft-touch plastics, fabric inserts on the door pads, and vegan leather upholstery are expected to be used throughout the interior. Additional features could include an augmented reality head-up display (HUD), a panoramic sunroof that extends over the rear seats, and multi-zone climate control. The center console is likely to be "floating" in design, providing extra storage space underneath for bags or electronic devices, further emphasizing the space-saving benefits of a dedicated EV platform.

exterior

The exterior design of the Mahindra BE 07 follows the brand’s new ‘Heartcore’ design philosophy, which emphasizes a bold and futuristic presence on the road. The front profile is expected to be dominated by large, C-shaped LED daytime running lights that frame the corners of the vehicle, giving it a wide and aggressive stance. Since there is no need for a traditional radiator, the front grille is likely to be completely closed off, improving the aerodynamic efficiency of the SUV.

Reports suggest that the BE 07 will feature flush-fitting door handles that pop out only when needed, a feature typically found in luxury cars to reduce drag. The side profile will likely showcase 19-inch or 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels designed to minimize air turbulence. The roofline is expected to be slightly tapered but will maintain enough height to ensure generous headroom for rear passengers. At the rear, the BE 07 may get a full-width LED light bar that connects the sharp, vertical tail lamp clusters, creating a distinctive lighting signature at night. The use of gloss black cladding around the wheel arches and side skirts will likely enhance its rugged SUV appeal while maintaining a premium look suitable for its ₹25-30 lakh price bracket.

competition

When it launches in late 2026, the Mahindra BE 07 will enter a highly competitive segment of the Indian EV market. Its primary rival will be the Tata Harrier EV, which is expected to offer similar dimensions and a rugged SUV appeal. Another major competitor will be the production version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX and its Toyota sibling, although those may be slightly smaller in size. The BE 07 will also face competition from the Hyundai Creta EV and the MG ZS EV, though the Mahindra model is likely to be positioned slightly higher in terms of technology and interior space. For buyers looking at the premium end, the BE 07 may even draw customers away from the BYD Atto 3, especially if Mahindra manages to price the 80kWh variant aggressively. The triple-screen layout and the dedicated EV platform give the BE 07 a technical edge over rivals that are built on modified ICE platforms. Furthermore, the BE 07's focus on rear-wheel drive and high power output will likely appeal to driving enthusiasts who find current mid-size electric SUVs a bit underpowered. Mahindra's extensive service network across India will also give it an advantage over newer players like BYD in smaller cities and towns.
