The XL6 is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder petrol engine producing 102 hp at 6000 rpm and 136.8 Nm at 4400 rpm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. This variant also gets the Smart Hybrid treatment, featuring idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration, and torque assist during acceleration.

The CNG variant uses the same block without the hybrid hardware. In CNG mode, outputs drop to 87 hp and 121.5 Nm, a noticeable but expected trade-off for the fuel cost savings. Switching it to petrol mode brings back the full figures. Only a 5-speed manual is on offer with CNG.

The XL6 delivers strong ARAI-certified fuel efficiency across its powertrain options. The petrol manual variant returns 20.97 kmpl, while the petrol automatic achieves 20.27 kmpl.

Meanwhile, the factory-fitted CNG manual variant offers an impressive 26.32 km/kg. This figure comes from the 45-litre bi-fuel petrol/CNG tank setup.

The XL6 cabin adopts a premium, spacious layout with high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces, and a modern dashboard design. At the helm, the driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, supplemented by additional features that include cruise control and a 360-degree camera for easier manoeuvring.

Just alongside, the infotainment system features a touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, supported by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while vital trip data is relayed through a large colour multi-information display.

Moving to the seating, the front seats include ventilated options in higher trims. Directly behind, second row consists of leatherette captain seats with armrests, slide, and recline functions, which also facilitate access to the third row, which offers space for adults on shorter journeys.

Throughout this rear section, practicality is enhanced by multiple storage compartments, cup holders, rear AC vents, and charging ports. Finally, the boot space measures 209 litres with all seats in place, expanding when the 50:50 split-folding third row is tucked away.

The XL6 showcases premium NEXA styling, featuring a large chrome-accented grille, sharp LED projector headlamps, and a sculpted bumper with fog lamp housings at the front.

The side profile highlights muscular wheel arches, black cladding, roof rails, and stylish alloy wheels (typically 15 or 16-inch depending on variant) shod with tubeless tyres. The long wheelbase and elevated stance contribute to balanced proportions, while the ground clearance of around 180 mm allows it to better handle speed breakers and uneven roads.

At the rear, the design includes LED tail lamps, a sculpted tailgate, and a high-mounted spoiler, giving it a contemporary finish. Functional elements like roof rails add practicality for carrying additional luggage.

The XL6 places strong emphasis on safety with six standard airbags across all variants, and is built on Maruti Suzuki’s lightweight yet rigid HEARTECT platform, which uses high-tensile steel to better absorb and disperse impact energy during a collision. Other essential systems include ABS with EBD and Brake Assist and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) that helps prevent skidding and loss of control.

Additional driver aids comprise a 360-degree view camera with approaching object detection for easier parking, while higher variants also get a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Other standard safety equipment includes ISOFIX child seat anchors, alongside mandatory features like ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

Notably, the model has not been officially tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP, so no star ratings are available as of yet.

The XL6’s closest direct competitors are the Kia Carens, and the Toyota Rumion.

The Carens offers a more powerful engine option and a wider feature list, while the XL6 counters with higher ARAI-rated fuel efficiency and the availability of a 6-speed automatic in its petrol lineup.

The Rumion shares the same powertrain and delivers similar efficiency and reliability, while the XL6 differentiates itself with SUV-inspired styling, second-row captain seats, and Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA retail network positioning.

The XL6 holds its ground particularly on efficiency and comfort-focused 6-seater layout, while rivals may edge ahead in raw power or certain equipment levels depending on specific trims.
