Maruti Suzuki Dzire Overview

The latest Maruti Suzuki Dzire sold through the Arena channel is one of the last remaining sedans under 10 lakhs, and gets a fresh, modern feel with its bold wide grille, sleek LED headlamps, and a sporty aero boot spoiler.
It is built around the 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT). A factory-fitted CNG bi-fuel option is offered on select variants.
At just under 4 metres long with a 2450 mm wheelbase, it slips easily through city traffic thanks to a tight 4.8-metre turning radius, while still offering a generous 382-litre boot for weekend getaways.
The multiple variant Dzire span a wide feature range, from essentials at entry level to an electric sunroof, 360-degree HD camera, wireless smartphone mirroring, and Suzuki Connect telematics at the top.
Safety is standardized across every model, featuring six airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, and ABS with EBD, all built on the Suzuki HEARTECT body structure.

Engine and Performance
Engine and Performance
The Dzire is powered by the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z-Series (Z12E) petrol engine, engineered for an excellent blend of performance, responsiveness, and high fuel efficiency. In its petrol only variant, it produces 80 hp of power and 111.7 Nm of torque. Here, the transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed torque-converter automatic.
The car also comes in a CNG variant, which utilizes a dual-fuel calibration. In CNG mode, the powertrain generates 69 hp and 101.8 Nm of torque. This CNG-compatible engine is paired exclusively with the 5-speed manual transmission.
fuel economy
fuel economy
The Dzire is officially rated as India's most fuel-efficient sedan, with claimed figures standingat 24.79 km/l for manual petrol and 25.71 km/l for AMT. Meanwhile the cost-efficient CNG variant is rated at 33.73 km/kg. Supporting this, the petrol variants come with an Idle Start-Stop system (engine cuts off at standstill and restarts when the brake or clutch is released), which helps claw back some efficiency in heavy traffic.
In terms of fuel storage, the petrol tank holds 37 litres, while on the CNG variants, the tank capacity is 55 litres water equivalent, alongside a 37-litre petrol reserve for when CNG isn't available.
interior
interior
The Dzire’s cabin utilizes a dual-tone black and beige theme to create an open, airy atmosphere, complemented by a dashboard finished in satin silver or a wood-and-silver combination, depending on the variant. For the driver, the space is anchored by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a height-adjustable seat, while front footwell illumination adds a premium touch to the environment.
Technology is integrated through a central SmartPlay touchscreen, available in 17.78 cm or 22.86 cm sizes which supports wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Arkamys surround sound. This extends to a wireless charging pad and cruise control, ensuring the cabin remains functional and clutter-free.
On the comfort side, cabin includes dedicated rear AC vents, a center armrest with integrated cup holders, and dual Type-A and Type-C fast-charging ports. In addition, automatic climate control and an electric sunroof further enhance the onboard experience.
Practically, the interior offers bottle holders in every door and a 382-litre boot equipped with a luggage room lamp for better visibility.
exterior
exterior
The Dzire fits within the sub-4-metre sedan bracket, measuring 3,995 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, and 1,525 mm tall on a 2,450 mm wheelbase. This footprint provides an unladen ground clearance of 163 mm, maintaining a compact yet functional stance.
The exterior is characterized by a cohesive lighting setup featuring FocusBeam or LED Crystal Vision headlamps paired with sleek-line LED DRLs and Clarity Vision LED fog lamps. This modern aesthetic is complemented by standard hardware across the range, including 3D Trinity LED rear lamps, a shark fin antenna, and an aero boot lip spoiler.
The profile is rounded out by wheels that range from 14-inch steel units to 15-inch alloys, which are available in painted or precision-cut two-tone finishes. These styling updates define the model's refreshed appearance within the latest Maruti Suzuki lineup.
safety
safety
The Dzire delivers top-tier safety with a 5-star adult occupant protection rating from Global NCAP (and 4-star child protection), backed by a full 5-star rating for both adult and child under Bharat NCAP. These results stem from the rigid Suzuki HEARTECT body structure.
Occupant protection is standardized across all variants, beginning with six airbags, front, side, and curtain as a base feature. This is supported by 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and front seatbelts equipped with pre-tensioners and force limiters.
Active safety systems, including ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill Hold Assist, are also standard equipment. Additionally, higher variants include advanced monitoring such as a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a 360-degree HD camera.
competition
competition
Th Dzire’s closest rivals in the sub-4-metre sedan segment are the new Honda Amaze (3rd gen), and the Hyundai Aura.
The Honda Amaze has a longer wheelbase of 2,470 mm, translating into more rear seat room than the Dzire's 2,450 mm, and its 416-litre boot is one of the segment's largest. It also offers a Level 2 ADAS suite and a CVT automatic, a smoother gearbox option the Dzire doesn't offer. The Dzire counters with a significantly higher fuel efficiency rating and a sunroof, which the Amaze doesn't offer in any variant.
The Aura edges out the Dzire slightly in boot space with 402 litres. Conversely, the Dzire counters with superior fuel economy and proven 5-star crash-test safety ratings.
