Nissan Tekton Overview

The all-new Tekton marks Nissan's return to the midsize SUV segment after the Kicks was discontinued in 2023. Built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform, it is assembled in Chennai.
Design wise, it features C-shaped LED headlamps and DRLs, a chrome-accented grille with an illuminated strip, skid plates, wheel arch cladding, and a rear spoiler. It rides on 17-inch steel wheels in lower variants and 18-inch alloy wheels in higher ones.
Inside, it offers a 7-inch or 10.25-inch infotainment system with Google Built-in, depending on the variant. Other features include ventilated seats, 48-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, and a powered tailgate, on higher variants.
Engine options include a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol paired to a 6-speed manual, delivering 100 PS/166 Nm, and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol paired to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT, producing 163 PS/280 Nm.
Safety wise, it has earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
Lastly, it is available in six monotone colours and five dual-tone colour options.
Engine and Performance
Engine and Performance
The Tekton is available with two E20-compatible turbo-petrol engines.
The T160 is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder unit with Turbo MPFi fuel injection, producing 100 PS and 166 Nm, paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual.
The T280 is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder Turbo GDi unit making 163 PS and 280 Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with wet clutch and e-Shifter.
Both are front-wheel drive.
fuel economy

Official ARAI-certified figures for the Tekton place the 1.0-litre T160 MT at 19.4 kmpl, the highest in the range.
The 1.3-litre T280 returns 17.8 kmpl with the manual and 18.5 kmpl with the DCT.
The fuel tank capacity across the range is 50 litres.
interior
interior
Tekton’s interior dashboard features graphite woven soft-touch trim, a double D-cut steering wheel, Smart-Touch LED cabin illumination, an illuminated glovebox with a smart organiser, and a sliding centre armrest with dual cup holders.
Higher variants add a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.25-inch HD digital cockpit, an elevated centre console with an e-shifter on DCT variants, a cooled storage armrest, and the SleekSlide centre storage system.
Infotainment ranges from a 7-inch Drive-Assist display to a 10.1-inch Tek-Link HD system and a 10.25-inch Google Built-in-powered screen with Google Maps in the instrument cluster and Google Play.
Audio ranges from a 4-speaker Arkamys Signature system to a 6-speaker Arkamys Auditorium 3D setup.
Lower variants get bi-density ComfortWeave upholstery, while higher variants feature quilted leatherette seats. Also, ventilated front seats, 6-way electric adjustment for the front seats, and 48-colour ambient lighting are available on higher variants.
Rear features include a 60:40 split-folding seat, a centre armrest with a smartphone holder and cup holders, seat-back pockets, USB Type-C charging ports, and rear AC vents.
Lastly, boot space is rated at 700 litres to the roof, 518 litres to the parcel shelf, and 1,789 litres with the rear seats folded.

Along the profile, a commanding 212mm ground clearance, reinforced wheel arches, and aero-optimized air curtains emphasize its rugged stance.
Standard equipment includes body-colored handles and mirror-integrated LED turn signals, with wheel choices ranging from 17-inch steel or dual-tone covers to 18-inch alloys.
At the rear, an aero-tuned roof spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and high-mounted LED stop lamp sit above Dynamic Interlock skid plates.
Higher variants elevate the design further, adding connected headlamps, SynchroFlow connected taillamps, flush roof rails, auto-folding mirrors with puddle lamps, and an electric panoramic sunroof operated remotely via the SmartCard key.
safety
safety
The Tekton has a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, scoring 30.49 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection.
Standard safety across all models includes six airbags with a passenger inhibition switch, front disc brakes, TPMS, and rear parking sensors.
The base model also includes comprehensive active safety tech like ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability, Traction, and Cornering Stability controls, alongside Hill Start Assist, roll-over sensors, Emergency Stop Signals, and seatbelt pretensioners and reminders for all seats.
Moving up the trim levels adds a rear-view camera, rear disc brakes, and a full ADAS suite, while select DCT variants exclusively receive Hill Descent Control and a 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor.
competition
competition
The Tekton closely competes with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Renault Duster, with three advantages: a massive 700-litre boot, 212 mm ground clearance, and Google Built-in.
Against the Creta and Seltos, the Tekton’s turbo-petrol-only lineup trails their diverse naturally aspirated and diesel engine options.
The Creta leverages a larger service network, while the Seltos boasts a trinity panoramic display and 21 ADAS features (though both the Seltos and Tekton share standard six airbags and a 5-star BNCAP rating).
Meanwhile, the Renault Duster shares the Tekton’s platform, core engines, and body structure, but adds a 1.8-litre E-Tech strong hybrid option the Nissan lacks.
To stand apart from its French sibling, the Tekton relies on bold Patrol-inspired styling, its exclusive Google tech, and a wider array of dual-tone exterior colors.
