Renault Duster Overview

After a long hiatus, Renault is poised to re-enter the Indian market with the third-generation Duster in early 2026. Unlike its predecessor which felt dated by the end of its lifecycle, this upcoming model is being engineered to directly challenge the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara with a unique selling proposition: true toughness
engine and performance
Renault is expected to drop the diesel engine entirely for 2026. Instead, the India-spec Duster will likely launch with two key petrol options: a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine (potentially with mild-hybrid tech) and a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter unit for entry variants. There are strong rumors of a 4x4 variant with dedicated terrain modes (Snow, Mud, Sand), which would make it one of the only AWD options in its class besides the Grand Vitara/Hyryder.
interior
The cabin is slated for a complete modernization. The upcoming Duster will likely ditch the utilitarian dashboard for a driver-centric layout featuring a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. A standout feature expected for India is the "YouClip" system—a series of mounting points throughout the car for accessories like phone holders and lights. We also anticipate ventilated front seats and premium soft-touch materials on the top trims to match segment standards.
exterior
Spy shots of the India-bound mules reveal a boxier, more butch stance than ever before. The front profile is expected to feature slim Y-shaped LED DRLs connecting into a sleek grille, a massive departure from the bulbous curves of the old model. The side profile will likely sport chunky cladding made from Renault’s new "Starkle" recycled material and hidden rear door handles mounted on the C-pillar for a cleaner look. Expect a ground clearance north of 210mm and rugged skid plates that aren't just for show.
