Pros & Cons of Honda Elevate
Things We Like
- Six airbags are standard on the base SV variant.
- The 10.25-inch touchscreen on top variants includes an assistant side-view monitor and rear-view monitor built into the display itself, not just a separate camera feed.
- At 458 litres, the boot is larger than the Hyundai Creta (433 L) and Maruti Grand Vitara (355 L with the hybrid system) without sacrificing rear seat space.
- The CVT variants from some variant upward get 7-speed paddle shifters, remote engine start, and an LED shift position indicator.
- E20 fuel compatibility ensures no additional running costs or fuel-sourcing complications as India progressively rolls out ethanol-blended petrol.
Things We Don't Like
- No diesel or turbo-petrol option.
- Honda SENSING, including autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, is locked to the top variants.
- The rear suspension uses a torsion beam setup rather than a multi-link arrangement.
- The base variant is manual-only, with no CVT option at the entry level.
- The surround sound speaker count is just four, while rivals offer more capable audio systems at comparable variant level.
Honda Elevate Overview

The Elevate is Honda Cars India's entry into the mid-size SUV space, measuring 4,312mm in length with a 2,650mm wheelbase. It's powered by Honda's 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine – 119 hp, 145 Nm, offered with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT.
At the base level, the Elevate comes with 6 airbags, automatic climate control, and Honda's Smart Key system, while upper trims layer in a sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, leatherette upholstery, and Honda SENSING, the brand's ADAS package covering autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise, and lane-keeping.
Rounding things out, the car has a 458-litre boot space.
Engine and Performance
The Elevate runs a 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine with Variable Timing Control (VTC), a naturally aspirated unit with no turbocharger. It produces 119 hp at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm.
Paired with this engine, two transmissions are offered, a 6-speed manual and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). From the V variant upward, the CVT gains 7-speed paddle shifters, letting the driver manually step through simulated ratios.
Factoring in these powertrain configurations, the kerb weight ranges from 1,213 to 1,259 kg, with gross vehicle weight rated at 1,700 kg for CVT variants and 1,650 kg for the manual.
fuel economy
According to ARAI certification, the fuel efficiency stands at 16.92 km/l for the CVT and 15.31 km/l for the manual. However, real-world efficiency will typically be lower, since urban driving, frequent air-conditioning use, stop-and-go traffic, and passenger load all reduce returns noticeably from the claimed figures.
Additionally, the Honda Elevate features an E20-compliant engine, meaning it runs on petrol blended with up to 20% ethanol and a 40-litre fuel tank capacity.
interior
The cabin comes in two-tone colour themes, that is Shadow Beige & Black , Black & Ivory, and Ivory or Brown leatherette, depending on the variant. Enhancing this layout, upper trims add soft-touch leatherette on the dashboard and door linings, giving the cabin a noticeably more premium feel than the fabric-only lower grades.
Complementing these upgraded materials, depending on the variant, the infotainment steps up from an 8-inch screen with 4 speakers, to a 10.25-inch display with an 8-speaker setup, with both supporting wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Additionally, modern conveniences like wireless charging and ambient lighting are present from the third variant from the base.
Beyond technology and aesthetics, the interior focuses heavily on ergonomics and practical utility. The driver's seat is height-adjustable and the steering telescopically adjustable across all variants.
For cargo flexibility, the rear bench splits 60:40 and folds flat to supplement the 458-litre boot space, while storage across the cabin remains thorough, featuring smartphone pockets, lidded charging ports front and rear, and 1-litre bottle holders in all four doors.
exterior
The Elevate's front is anchored by Honda's "Alpha-Bold" grille, flanked by LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs that also serve as position lamps and turn indicators, a clean, uncluttered arrangement. While the rear carries LED tail lamps with a dual-trail light signature.
Dictating this road presence, the body measures 4,312mm long, 1,790mm wide, and 1,650mm tall on a 2,650mm wheelbase, giving it a proportionally wide stance for its length.
To further enhance this exterior silhouette, roof rails, an electric sunroof with one-touch slide/tilt operation, and LED front fog lamps feature on higher trims. While an integrated tailgate spoiler and shark fin antenna complete the silhouette.
Finally, grounding the vehicle’s profile, the wheels range between R16 and R17 across the lineup, with options including dual-tone diamond-cut alloys and gloss black alloys depending on the variant.
safety
Six airbags are standard across all Elevate variants, dual front, front side, and side curtain, paired with Honda's ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure, which is designed to distribute crash energy more evenly. Front seatbelts also include pretensioners with load limiters.
On the active safety front the range includes ABS with EBD, brake assist, brake override, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, and hill start assist. Further up the lineup, from the top variant onward, Honda SENSING adds autonomous emergency braking (CMBS), adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, and auto high-beam.
As an indication of real-world performance, the Japan-market Honda WR-V, built on the same platform and produced in India, was tested by JNCAP in 2024 and awarded a 5-star overall rating (90%), with Rank A in both collision safety (86%) and preventive safety (95%). Note that the WR-V tested carries additional features not standard on the Indian Elevate, including rear seatbelt pretensioners and a pedal misapplication prevention system.
competition
The Honda Elevate competes directly with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Creta’s IVT ADAS system uses both camera and radar, unlike the Elevate's camera-only setup. The Creta also offers ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof. The Elevate counters with a larger 458-litre boot against Creta’s 433 litres.
The newly refreshed Seltos brings a wider powertrain menu, naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel. While the Elevate holds an edge on boot space.
The strong-hybrid variant of the Grand Vitara claims up to 27.97 km/l and is the only option here with AWD. However, the hybrid Grand Vitara's battery pack meaningfully reduces boot space from its already smaller 355-litre figure.
