Kia EV6 Overview

Updated on April 2, 2026

The Kia EV6 is built on the E-GMP platform, where its design language emphasises clean surfaces, sharp character lines and integrated Star Map LED lighting signatures that set it apart from conventional SUVs.

Performance centres on dual electric motors driving all four wheels (AWD), delivering 320 hp and 605 Nm, with stable handling across varied conditions.

The interior focuses on driver and passenger comfort through quality finishes and intuitive controls. It features dual 12.3-inch panoramic curved displays, a Meridian 14-speaker premium audio system, Augmented Reality Head-Up Display, and relaxation seats with ventilation and memory functions.

Meanwhile the exterior proportions create a planted stance while maintaining everyday usability. In addition on the safety side, ADAS Level 2 suite with 27 features addresses active safety needs without relying on driver intervention in routine scenarios.

Taken together, the EV6 provides a focused electric option that prioritises range, charging speed and modern features for daily commutes and highway runs alike.

Battery and Motor

The EV6 employs a dual-motor powertrain with a combined output of 320 hp max power and 605 Nm peak torque. An 84 kWh battery supplies energy to the motors through an automatic transmission (AT) that sends drive to all four wheels (AWD).

Range and Charging

The EV6 records an ARAI-certified range of 663 km under MUDC+ test conditions.

As for charging, its battery pack supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, which brings the battery from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. For home or AC charging, it supports standard wallbox setups for regular overnight top-ups.

Beyond receiving charge, the EV6 also supports V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), with a built-in outlet that can supply up to 3.5 kW of power to run appliances, charge devices, or power external equipment directly from the car.

V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) charging is also supported, allowing the EV6 to transfer charge to another compatible electric vehicle.

interior

The EV6’s cabin dashboard integrates a dual 12.3-inch panoramic curved display that merges the instrument cluster and the infotainment system into a single, clean driver view. This central hub manages connected services, OTA updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside voice command support.

Complementing this interface is a leatherette-wrapped D-cut steering wheel featuring heating and multi-function controls, with an augmented reality head-up display further supplementing the driver's line of sight.

Also, a 14-speaker Meridian premium sound system and a smartphone wireless charger round out the cabin's technology suite.

The cabin itself is upholstered in black suede with vegan leatherette bolsters and its atmosphere is regulated by a dual-zone automatic air conditioner and 64-color dynamic ambient lighting.

In addition, both front seats provide 10-way power adjustment, ventilation, heating, and relaxation functions, with the driver's side adding a memory feature.

exterior

The EV6’s front gets Star Map graphic connected daytime running lights that illuminate sequentially with the turn indicators, flanked by dual LED headlamps with adaptive driving beam.

These elements lead into a side, presenting clean proportions accented by electric folding mirrors with LED signals and puddle lamps, while the 1,890 mm width and 19-inch aerodynamic gloss black alloy wheels contribute to the stance.

At the rear, Star Map LED combination lamps with sequential indicators and the GT-Line specific bumper complete the design, which measures 4,695 mm in length and 1,570 mm in height on 235/55 R19 tyres.

safety

Although the Kia EV6 has not yet been tested under Bharat NCAP, it earned a 5-star rating in the 2022 Euro NCAP crash tests, achieving scores of 90% for adult and 86% for child occupant protection.

The current model’s safety gets the Level 2 ADAS suite that utilizes camera and radar inputs to assist the driver in both highway and urban environments. The system manages road positioning through lane departure warning, lane keeping, and lane following assists, while smart cruise control with stop and go and high beam assist handle variable driving conditions.

To mitigate collision risks, the EV6 also gets forward collision-avoidance with junction turning and crossing support, alongside dedicated assists for blind spots and rear cross-traffic.

Additional safety layers include a blind-spot view monitor, safe exit assist, and a driver attention warning to ensure constant situational awareness.

competition

The EV6 competes directly with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the BYD Sealion 7 in its segment.

The Ioniq 5 uses a 72.6 kWh battery for 631 km range and offers a longer 3,000 mm wheelbase plus 531-litre boot space, giving it an edge in rear passenger room, while the EV6 counters with higher power, quicker acceleration and the same 18-minute 10-80 per cent DC charging time.

The Sealion 7 provides a larger 4830 mm length and 500-litre boot along with an AWD option that surpasses the EV6 in peak power and 0-100 km/h time, but the EV6 leads in claimed range and far quicker DC fast charging at 18 minutes versus 45 minutes.
