Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Overview

Updated on April 10, 2026

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is designed for families who want more space and features than typical budget models without stepping into a larger car. Its 1.2-litre Kappa engine produces 82 hp and 113.8 Nm in petrol form, while the bi-fuel version delivers 68 hp and 95.2 Nm on CNG. Both are paired with a 5-speed manual, and petrol also gets a smooth AMT.

Its exterior styling includes projector headlamps, LED DRLs and tail lamps, and on the inside, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on higher trims, and thoughtful touches like rear AC vents and fast USB charging.

For practicality, the dual-cylinder CNG system keeps the 260-litre boot fully usable, addressing a common pain point in CNG hatchbacks.

Overall, the Grand i10 Nios balances everyday usability, safety equipment and modern features in a compact, easy-to-park body.

Engine and Performance

The Grand i10 Nios is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder petrol engine. In pure-petrol form it produces 82 hp at 6,000 rpm and 113.8 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm.

The bi-fuel version, which runs on petrol or CNG, is detuned to 68 hp and 95.2 Nm when operating on CNG.

Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual gearbox for all variants and a Smart Auto AMT on petrol models only. The CNG variant is available only with the manual transmission.

fuel economy

ARAI-certified fuel efficiency for the Grand i10 Nios is 18 kmpl with the 5-speed manual petrol, 16 kmpl with the AMT, and 27 km/kg on CNG.

In terms of fuel capacity, the petrol model has a 37-litre fuel tank. On the bi-fuel CNG variant, a separate CNG cylinder with a 60-litre (water equivalent) capacity is fitted alongside the same 37-litre petrol tank.

interior

Inside, the Nios gets footwell lighting across the range, with higher trims adding glossy black dashboard inserts and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Most variants include steering-mounted controls and tilt adjustment.

Ahead of the driver, the instrument cluster houses a 3.5-inch multi-information display, while a smart key with push-button start is also available.

For infotainment, higher trims are equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which upgrades to a wireless connection on the top-spec Asta. Lower trims come with a smaller touchscreen or a basic audio system.

Other key cabin tech includes automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging, and cruise control on petrol models.

In terms of seating and comfort, driver seat height adjustment and 3-point seatbelts are standard. Rear passengers benefit from adjustable headrests, dedicated AC vents, and a fast USB Type-C charger.

The cabin rounds out its utility with sensible storage spaces and a rear parcel tray on higher trims.

exterior

The Grand i10 Nios measures 3,815 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height, with a 2,450 mm wheelbase and 165 mm of ground clearance. This body rides on wheel options which start from 14-inch steel wheels with covers (165/70 R14) on the entry-level trims, moving to 15-inch dual-tone styled steel or diamond-cut alloys (175/60 R15) on higher trims.

As for the styling up front, it gets a painted black radiator grille and LED daytime running lamps, with projector headlamps available from the mid-trim upwards.

The side profile includes body-coloured bumpers and mirrors, while higher variants add roof rails, chrome door handles, and turn indicators on the mirrors.

At the rear, the car is equipped with LED tail lamps, body-coloured bumpers, and a high-mounted stop lamp. A shark-fin antenna, rear defogger, and camera with static guidelines are included on higher trims.

For added convenience, mirrors are electrically adjustable and folding on AMT models and higher.

safety

Every variant of the Nios gets six airbags, with ABS with EBD, speed-sensing auto door lock, impact-sensing auto door unlock, immobiliser, central locking and burglar alarm.

Higher trims and AMT variants add electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill-start assist control (HAC), rear camera with guidelines, rear defogger and tyre-pressure monitoring system.

In addition, all seats have 3-point seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters for front occupants, plus seat-belt reminders, meanwhile child-seat anchors (ISOFIX) are provided on the top trim.

Other aids include emergency stop signal, rear parking sensors, day/night inside rear-view mirror and automatic headlamps on top trims.

In terms of crash testing, it received 2 stars for adult occupant protection and 2 stars for child occupant protection in the Global NCAP test (dual-airbag version). However, in the December 2025 Global NCAP Africa test, the India-made model scored 0 stars for adult protection and 3 stars for child protection on the base two-airbag, non-ESC trim.

competition

The Grand i10 Nios has two close rivals in its segment, namely the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Tata Tiago.

The Swift has the edge in fuel efficiency, with ARAI-certified petrol figures of around 24.8-25.75 kmpl compared with the 16-18 kmpl of Nios. It also offers a slightly larger 265-litre boot, versus 260 litres in the Nios. The Grand i10 Nios counters with six airbags as standard and Hyundai’s Hy-CNG Duo dual-cylinder setup, which helps preserve usable boot space in CNG variants.

The Tiago stands out with its 4-star Global NCAP safety rating, while the Grand i10 Nios was rated poorly in Global NCAP. The Nios offers six airbags as standard and a slightly larger 260-litre boot than the Tiago’s 242-litres. In addition, the Tiago’s 1.2-litre engine produces slightly more power, while the Nios uses a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with around 82 bhp. The Tiago also offers CNG with AMT, whereas the CNG variant of the Nios is available only with a manual gearbox.
