The Amaze uses a 1.2-litre water-cooled inline four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine. It produces 89 hp at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm.

For transmission, the motor is available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.

ARAI-certified figures for the Honda Amaze stand at 18.65 kmpl with the 5-speed manual and 19.46 kmpl with the CVT. It also has a 35-litre fuel tank.

Inside the Amaze, the dashboard presents a clean, horizontal layout finished in premium beige-and-black two-tone upholstery with satin metallic and piano-black accents on the steering wheel, dashboard, and inside door handles.

The instrument cluster combines analogue gauges with a 7-inch full-colour TFT MID. Additionally, the steering wheel carries illuminated audio, hands-free telephone, and voice-recognition switches plus 7-speed paddle shifters on the CVT. It also tilts for height adjustment.

In its segment, the Amaze closely competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Aura (the Tata Tigor is also a direct alternative for buyers seeking CNG).

The Dzire focuses on efficiency with its lighter three-cylinder petrol engine, but the Amaze counters with the smoother refinement of its four-cylinder i-VTEC unit.

The Aura offers sharp styling and a feature-rich cabin, though the Amaze leads with a larger 416-litre boot and a 5-star Bharat NCAP adult occupant safety rating.

The Tigor, meanwhile, provides a CNG option for lower running costs, while the Amaze emphasises refinement, practicality and consistent mid-range performance from its naturally aspirated petrol engine.
