Honda Amaze Overview

Updated on December 23, 2025

The 2025 Honda Amaze represents the third generation of Honda's successful compact sedan in India. Launched on December 4, 2024, the new Amaze brings significant updates in terms of design, features, and safety while retaining its core strengths of reliability and practicality. It is based on an updated version of the platform used in the larger Honda City and shared with the Elevate SUV, which is expected to contribute to improved space and ride comfort. The 2025 Amaze continues to be powered by the familiar 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, offered with both manual and CVT automatic transmissions. A major addition to the new Amaze is the availability of Level 2 ADAS features on higher variants, a segment-first, and the standardization of 6 airbags across the range. The Amaze is a strong contender in the compact sedan space, competing against established rivals.

engine and performance

The 2025 Honda Amaze is powered by the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol engine. This engine produces 89 bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. It is available with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) automatic.

This engine is known for its refinement, smoothness, and reliability. While not the most powerful in the segment, it offers adequate performance for city commuting and comfortable cruising on highways. The manual gearbox provides direct control, while the CVT offers a smooth and convenient driving experience, particularly in traffic. Honda claims an ARAI mileage of 18.65 kmpl for the manual variants and 19.46 kmpl for the CVT variants, making it a fuel-efficient option in its class. There is no diesel engine option available.

Ride and Handling

The 2025 Honda Amaze is expected to offer a comfortable ride quality, building on the strengths of its platform shared with the City and Elevate. The suspension setup (MacPherson strut at the front and torsion beam at the rear) is likely tuned to absorb bumps and undulations effectively, providing a comfortable experience for occupants, especially in city driving conditions.

Handling is expected to be predictable and stable, leaning towards comfort rather than sporty dynamics.

The steering should be light at low speeds for easy maneuverability in urban environments and offer decent feedback at higher speeds. While it may not be the most engaging car to drive enthusiastically, it is designed to be a comfortable and easy-to-drive sedan for daily use and family commutes. The ground clearance of 170 mm is adequate for navigating typical Indian road conditions.

interior

The interior of the 2025 Honda Amaze has been significantly revamped to offer a more modern and feature-rich cabin experience. The dashboard design is inspired by the Honda Elevate, featuring a layered layout with a focus on ergonomics.

Higher variants come equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, providing a contemporary digital interface.

The cabin offers comfortable seating for five occupants, with decent legroom and headroom for a car in this segment. The dual-tone interior theme (likely black and beige) adds to the sense of space and airiness.

Material quality is expected to be a mix of hard plastics and some better-finished surfaces, in line with segment expectations. Convenience features on offer include automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a wireless phone charger, push-button start/stop, keyless entry, and power windows. Storage spaces are practical, and the boot capacity remains a generous 416 litres, which is quite competitive in its class. The interior aims to provide a comfortable and connected environment for occupants.

Infotainment

The infotainment system in the 2025 Honda Amaze is a key area of upgrade. Higher variants feature an 8-inch touchscreen display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing for seamless smartphone integration. The system is expected to be responsive and user-friendly, providing access to navigation, media playback, and various vehicle settings.

Complementing the touchscreen is a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, which provides essential driving information and can be customized to some extent. The Amaze is also equipped with a 6-speaker audio system on higher trims.

Connected car technology is available through Honda Connect, offering features like remote operations and vehicle diagnostics. While the touchscreen is a welcome addition, the touch-based climate controls below it might require some acclimatization for ease of use while driving.

exterior

The exterior design of the 2025 Honda Amaze is a notable evolution from its predecessor, adopting design cues from larger Honda models like the City and Elevate. The front fascia features a redesigned hexagonal grille with a prominent chrome bar, flanked by sleek LED projector headlamps with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs.

The bumper is also restyled with angular inserts and LED fog lamps on higher variants, giving it a more modern and bolder look.

From the side, the silhouette remains that of a conventional three-box sedan, but with sharper character lines. Depending on the variant, it rides on 14-inch steel wheels or 15-inch alloy wheels with different designs.

The rear design is inspired by the Honda City, featuring new wraparound LED taillights connected by a chrome strip. An integrated spoiler and a redesigned bumper complete the rear profile. The dimensions are largely similar to the outgoing model to remain under the crucial 4-meter mark, measuring 3995 mm in length, 1733 mm in width, and 1500 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2470 mm, and the ground clearance is 170 mm. The design updates give the 2025 Amaze a more premium and contemporary appearance.

safety

Safety has been significantly enhanced in the 2025 Honda Amaze. A major highlight is the standardization of 6 airbags across all variants, providing a higher level of occupant protection. The Amaze is also equipped with a suite of active and passive safety features.

Standard safety features include ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Electronic Stability and Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. Higher variants introduce segment-first Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) under the Honda Sensing suite.

These features include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

A LaneWatch camera, another segment-first feature, is also available on higher trims, providing enhanced visibility of the left-side blind spot. While the inclusion of 6 airbags and ADAS is commendable, it's important to note the Global NCAP safety rating under the more stringent 2024 protocols, where the Amaze received 2 stars for Adult Occupant Protection and 0 stars for Child Occupant Protection.

competition

The 2025 Honda Amaze operates in the highly competitive compact sedan segment in India. Its primary rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor. It also competes indirectly with some premium hatchbacks and entry-level compact SUVs in a similar price bracket.

Priced from ₹8.10 Lakh to ₹11.20 Lakh ex-showroom, the Amaze is positioned competitively against these rivals. Its strengths lie in its refined engine, comfortable ride, spacious interior, Honda's reputation for reliability, the standardization of 6 airbags, and the availability of segment-first Level 2 ADAS features on higher variants.

While competitors like the Dzire and Aura offer CNG options and the Tigor has an electric variant, the Amaze focuses on providing a strong petrol-only package with advanced safety and convenience features. The introduction of ADAS is a significant differentiator in this segment.

final verdict

The 2025 Honda Amaze is a compelling offering in the compact sedan segment, bringing significant updates that enhance its appeal. The refreshed design, modern and feature-rich interior, and the continued use of the refined 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine make it a strong contender for buyers prioritizing comfort, reliability, and fuel efficiency.

The standardization of 6 airbags and the introduction of Level 2 ADAS features on higher variants are major steps forward in terms of safety, positioning the Amaze as one of the safest options in its class based on equipment.

While the Global NCAP rating under the stringent 2024 protocols is a point to consider, the comprehensive safety feature list is a positive. The Amaze offers a comfortable ride, practical interior space, and the convenience of both manual and CVT transmissions. For Indian buyers seeking a well-rounded, safe, and feature-loaded compact sedan from a trusted brand, the 2025 Honda Amaze is a highly recommended option that effectively competes in its segment.
