CNG cars with automatic gearboxes used to be a Tata specialty. That changed when Maruti Suzuki joined the segment with AMT options on the Swift, Baleno and Dzire, adding three models in one announcement.

These cars use bi-fuel setups that let you switch between petrol and CNG on the move. Tata's factory iCNG twin-cylinder tech keeps the boot usable, while Maruti's single large tank trades boot space for a lower kit cost. Nissan's retrofit on the Magnite is the outlier, dealer-fitted rather than factory built.

Prices are approximate ex-showroom and can vary by variant, city, offers, and dealer. Tata raised prices by up to Rs 25,000 from September 1, 2026. Maruti's CNG-AMT launched September 19, 2026. Nissan's Magnite uses a dealer-fitted kit, not factory. All others are factory-fitted. Tata replaced the Tigor with the Aeris on September 25, 2026. Aeris prices are introductory.

Nissan Magnite CNG EZ-Shift AMT

The Nissan Magnite brings compact SUV versatility to the CNG automatic space through its government-approved dealer-fitted retrofit kit (with 3-year/1 lakh km warranty). 

The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine generates 71 bhp and 96 Nm on CNG, mated to a 5-speed EZ-Shift AMT for smooth, traffic-friendly performance. Claimed mileage hovers around 24 km/kg, delivering solid savings with an integrated fuel lid for easy refills. 

It shines with a 5-star Global NCAP rating, up to six airbags, 205 mm ground clearance, a 360-degree camera on higher trims, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, rear AC vents, and premium touches like diamond-cut alloys.

Tata Tiago iCNG AMT

The 2026 Tata Tiago facelift brings sharper exterior styling, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, and dual wireless chargers.

The CNG AMT variant adds paddle shifters, which none of the Maruti CNG automatics offer.

The 1.2-litre iCNG engine produces around 74 bhp and 96.5 Nm in CNG mode.

Tata continues with its twin-cylinder iCNG setup, keeping the boot at around 210 litres even in CNG mode. The ARAI-rated mileage for the CNG AMT is around 28.06 km/kg.

Six airbags come as standard, along with ABS with EBD and ESP.

Tata Aeris iCNG AMT

The Tata Aeris replaced the Tigor on 25 September 2026, and its CNG automatic is cheaper to get into.

The 1.2-litre Revotron makes 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm on CNG, paired with a five-speed AMT. Cruise control is not offered on the CNG AMT, and Tata has not yet published its ARAI mileage.

Twin CNG cylinders sit under the boot floor with a combined water capacity of 70 litres. Tata quotes 419 litres of boot for the petrol Aeris and 227 litres for the CNG version.

The CNG AMT is offered on every trim from Pure to Accomplished. Six airbags are standard, the Creative adds a 360-degree camera, and the Accomplished gets ventilated seats.

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG AMT

The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG AMT is offered on the VXi, VXi-O, and ZXi trims. It uses a 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder engine producing 70 PS and 102 Nm in CNG mode, paired with a 5-speed AMT. ARAI mileage is 35.34 km/kg, higher than the manual CNG's 32.85 km/kg.

The 55-litre CNG tank sits in the boot and the spare wheel is removed, reducing luggage space. The ZXi adds 15-inch alloys, LED headlamps, wireless charging, automatic climate control and rear USB-C ports.

The closest rival is the Tata Tiago iCNG AMT, which retains 210 litres of boot space and its spare wheel with twin CNG cylinders. The Swift offers higher claimed mileage.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG AMT

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG AMT is offered in the Delta and Zeta trims.

Its 1.2-litre Z12E three-cylinder engine produces 70 PS and 102 Nm in CNG mode, paired with a 5-speed AMT. ARAI mileage is 34.47 km/kg, compared with 33.61 km/kg for the manual.

The CNG tank sits inside the boot and the spare wheel is removed, reducing luggage space from 318 litres. The Zeta gets a 22.86 cm SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen, automatic climate control, push-button start and wireless charging.

The closest rival is the Tata Altroz iCNG AMT, which uses twin cylinders and retains 210 litres of boot space. The Baleno has higher claimed mileage, while the Altroz offers more luggage space.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG AMT

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG AMT is offered in the VXi and ZXi trims.

The 1.2-litre Z12E engine produces 70 PS and 102 Nm in CNG mode, paired with a 5-speed AMT. ARAI mileage is 36.47 km/kg, compared with 33.73 km/kg for the manual, making it the most efficient of the three.

The 55-litre CNG tank sits in the boot and the spare wheel is removed, reducing luggage space from 382 litres. This is the main trade-off for buyers carrying luggage.

The Dzire combines a sedan body with an automatic gearbox and CNG powertrain, along with Maruti's service network.

Tata Punch iCNG AMT

The Tata Punch remains a top pick in the CNG automatic segment, blending micro-SUV toughness with seamless city driving. 

Its 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder engine produces around 72–73 bhp and 103 Nm on CNG, smoothly paired with a 5-speed AMT that includes paddle shifters on select trims for added control. The ARAI-certified mileage of 26.99 km/kg ensures exceptional fuel economy, translating to very low running costs for daily commutes. 

Standout features include the refreshed 2026 styling with sharp LED headlights, a large 10.25-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, six airbags as standard, and 193 mm ground clearance for confident handling on rough roads. 

With five-star BNCAP safety, a spacious interior, and the twin-cylinder CNG layout preserving usable boot space, it’s a versatile, feature-rich option that delivers SUV appeal without compromising on efficiency or convenience.

Tata Altroz CNG AMT

The Tata Altroz iCNG gets Tata's DCA automated gearbox paired with the 1.2-litre Revotron iCNG engine. The DCA makes shifts smoother under acceleration compared with a conventional AMT and is one of the more polished two-pedal setups in the budget hatchback segment.

The engine produces 73.5 PS and 103 Nm in CNG mode and uses a single advanced ECU for seamless switching between petrol and CNG.

Tata’s twin-cylinder iCNG setup frees up usable boot space, offering 210 litres even in CNG mode, while petrol and diesel versions continue with a larger 345-litre boot. The hatchback also features Direct Start in CNG mode, improving convenience during daily use and long-distance drives.
