How Do I Check ethanol Compatibility Of my 2 Wheeler?

If your motorcycle or scooter manufacturer is not listed above, it is strongly recommended to check your user manual, fuel tank cap, or fuel lid for fuel compatibility markings. Alternatively, you can contact your authorized service center to confirm whether your specific model is E20-ready.

If you are worried about the effects of ethanol on older two wheels you can use petrol additives to minimize the potential damage as per Bajaj Auto.

Will ethanol damage My Two-Wheeler?

Ethanol absorbs moisture and may prove to be corrosive in no compatible vehicles. As per ARAI and PIB and manufacturers there is no harm in using the ethanol blended fuel in compatible vehicles.

"The use of E-20 gives better acceleration, better ride quality and most importantly, lowered carbon emissions by approximately 30% as compared to E10 fuel'

However, owners on reddit and Teambhp have reported a 3 to 5 percent decrease in mileage. Some have even tested the petrol using graduated cylinder and have confirmed that ethanol is being mixed from anywhere between 8-20 percent.

I have a non E20 Compatible vehicle, what are my options?

Just like millions of other drivers your only option is to be very proactive in maintaining your vehicle. Have the rubber components, gaskets, fuel system inspected every 6 months, since ethanol is being blended everywhere as per the law.

Sure, the inspection may cost few hundred rupees but will save from any nasty repair bill that may very well be in thousands.
