Triumph’s sub-350cc range is finally here with the brand retaining the same styling, colours, hardware and overall feature set across its lineup, despite the shift to a smaller engine. The motorcycles continue to carry the familiar “400” badging, even though they are now powered by a revised 349cc unit derived from the earlier 398cc engine.
This downsizing has been carried out to fall below the 350cc tax threshold, as motorcycles under this limit attract significantly lower GST compared to those above it. Triumph claims the price reduction translates to savings of more than 21,000.

Performance has seen a modest reduction across the range with 2-3 PS and 5.5 nm dip in power figures
In addition to the drop in output, torque delivery has been shifted higher in the rev range, resulting in a smoother and more linear riding experience rather than strong low-end punch, as per Triumph
Mechanically, the bikes remain largely unchanged, continuing with the same 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch setup, making this update more focused on displacement adjustment, tax efficiency and improved rideability rather than a complete redesign.
