Smart Summary for Car Selection
Why Choose MG Hector Tomahawk EV?Why choose
- Three-row seating in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations; the e Vitara is a five-seat-only car, making the Tomahawk EV the clear answer for buyers who need the third row
- 69.2kWh battery with 517km certified range is substantially more than the e Vitara's 61kWh top pack at 543km MIDC competitive on paper, though both figures come from different testing protocols
- Vehicle-to-Home technology allows the battery to supply household appliances during power outages, a capability the e Vitara does not offer
- AWD is not available on the Tomahawk EV, but the larger battery and higher range ceiling suit buyers whose primary concern is long-distance travel without range anxiety
- BaaS pricing gives buyers a lower-upfront-cost route that the e Vitara's outright purchase structure does not match
Why not choose
- No crash test rating from Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP at launch; the e Vitara holds a 5-star Global NCAP rating and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, which the Tomahawk EV cannot match at this stage
- Maruti's service network with over 1,500 EV-ready centres is the widest EV service infrastructure in India; MG's network is a fraction of this size and creates meaningful risk for buyers outside metro cities
- The e Vitara offers AWD on its top variant a first for a Maruti EV while the Tomahawk EV is front-wheel drive throughout
- Level 2 ADAS is standard on the e Vitara's Zeta and Alpha variants with seven airbags across all versions; the Tomahawk EV's ADAS specification needs to be verified against the official variant breakdown before buying
Why Choose Maruti Suzuki e Vitara? Why choose
- 5-star ratings from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP for adult and child occupant protection the most comprehensively crash-tested affordable EV in India at this price
- Maruti's network of over 1,500 EV-ready service centres is the widest of any EV brand in India, giving buyers across tier-1, tier-2 and tier-3 cities genuine ownership confidence
- AWD available on the top variant a segment-first for Maruti with Level 2 ADAS standard on higher variants and seven airbags across the entire range
- Two battery options of 49kWh and 61kWh give buyers genuine price-point flexibility, with the 49kWh pack covering city commuters and the 61kWh serving longer-range buyers
- Co-developed with Toyota on the Heartect-e platform, giving buyers the engineering confidence of two established manufacturers behind the product
Why not choose
- Five seats only; buyers who need a third row for family use will find the e Vitara simply does not answer the requirement, regardless of its other strengths
- 310-litre boot is modest for a car of this price and size, limiting luggage capacity on family road trips even in the five-seat configuration
- No Vehicle-to-Home capability; the e Vitara offers Vehicle-to-Load on select variants but not the full home power backup that the Tomahawk EV provides
- Entry pricing is lower than the Tomahawk EV's outright purchase price, but the top variants with AWD reach a price that buyers scrutinise carefully against larger three-row rivals
Our Recommendation For Most BuyersMG Hector Tomahawk EV
Buyers who need a three-row electric SUV and live in cities where MG EV service is accessible will find the Tomahawk EV's 517km range, V2H capability, and seven-seat layout a package the e Vitara cannot replicate at any price. V2H in India's power-cut-prone conditions is a genuine daily-life differentiator, not just a headline spec.
The crash test gap is the most serious concern: the e Vitara's dual 5-star credentials versus the Tomahawk EV's absence of any published result is a meaningful safety question that buyers should not overlook. For buyers who need the third row and can accept the newer brand's service network risk, the Tomahawk EV delivers the more spacious family proposition.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
The e Vitara's case is built on three things the Tomahawk EV cannot currently match: verified crash safety from both NCAP bodies, the widest EV service network in India, and the co-engineering confidence of the Maruti-Toyota partnership. For five-seat family buyers who want the safest, best-supported affordable EV they can buy in India right now, the e Vitara is the most defensible answer. AWD on the top variant adds genuine capability for buyers in hilly regions.
The 310-litre boot is the practical limitation on longer trips, and the absence of V2H means grid-outage cover is not available. Buyers who need a third row must look at the Tomahawk EV; those who do not should look very carefully at the e Vitara's ownership-cycle strengths.
