The Indian passenger vehicle market witnessed significant shifts in 2025, with manufacturers achieving new milestones and experiencing changing market dynamics.

Maruti Suzuki

India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, sold 1.80 million vehicles in CY2025, up 3% from 2024. After a weak first nine months (down 3%), the GST 2.0 tax cuts sparked a 22% Q4 surge to 525,935 units.
December set a record with 178,646 units (+37%). Cars grew 3% to 935,971 units, while UVs (MPVs and SUVs) hit 732,489 units - both categories showing 3% growth. Maruti Suzuki continues to maintain over 50% market share.
Mahindra

Mahindra crossed 600,000 SUV sales for the first time, reaching 625,603 units (+23% YoY). Growth accelerated from 433,172 units in CY2023 to 528,460 in CY2024, totalling 1.58 million in three years. This propelled Mahindra from 4th to 2nd position.
The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic led with 161,103 units, Thar and Thar Roxx sales jumped 55% to 107,326 units, while the XUV700 saw a slight 4% decline to 80,251 units. Electric models BE 6 and XEV 9e contributed 38,841 units (7% share).

Tata Motors

Tata Motors sold 578,771 vehicles (+3%) for five consecutive record years. Q1-Q2 sales declined 6-10%, but Q4 surged 21% to 168,616 units. October hit a monthly record of 61,134 units (+27%).
EV sales reached 81,125 units (+18%) with 14% penetration rate, though its market share dropped to 40% due to increased competition. The Nexon was India's best-selling car in October-November.
JSW MG Motor

MG Motor sold 70,554 units (+19% YoY) and crossed 100,000 cumulative EV sales. The company ranks second in EVs with 50,356 registrations, trailing only Tata Motors.
The Windsor EV drives volumes with its premium positioning, while Comet EV appeals to urban buyers. The MG Select luxury channel grew 38% month-over-month in December.
Audi India
Audi recorded retail sales of 4,510 units between January and December 2025, successfully navigating a year shaped by shifting market dynamics. Its pre-owned car arm, Audi Approved: plus, posted a healthy 3 percent growth. The overall sales were down form what they sold in 2024, about 5816 cars
Flagship models like the Audi Q7, Q8, S5 Sportback and RS Q8 Performance saw consistent demand, while bestsellers such as the Q3, A4, A6 and Q5 continued to attract buyers throughout the year.
Skoda
Celebrating a quarter-century in India, the Czech automaker achieved its highest-ever annual volume in 2025. The company delivered 72,665 vehicles, effectively doubling its 2024 performance with a 107% growth rate.
This surge was primarily fueled by the introduction of the Kylaq, a model tailored specifically for the Indian market. Skoda also reached a significant milestone this year, surpassing 200,000 units of locally manufactured cars sold since 2021, and expanded its service network to 325 locations across 183 cities.
Kia
Kia concluded the year with total wholesale volumes of 280,286 units, representing a solid 15% year-on-year growth. The brand celebrated its most successful December to date, with sales doubling to 18,659 units. A major highlight of the year was the Sonet, which maintained its popularity by crossing the 100,000-unit mark for the second year in a row
Toyota India
Thanks to its Maruti rebadged offerings like Taisor, Glanza and Hyryder domestic sales accounted for 351,580 units (up 17%), while exports saw an even sharper increase of 42%. The year ended on a high note with December domestic sales reaching 34,157 units
