As 2026 has started, several major carmakers in India have hiked prices of their models. Rising input costs, higher logistics expenses, and sustained currency pressure are the key reasons behind these revisions.
With the Indian rupee continuing to weaken against major global currencies such as the euro, manufacturers are adjusting prices to protect margins.
The hikes range between 2 percent and 3 percent, impacting both luxury and mass market cars, potentially increasing prices by several thousand rupees or more, depending on the model.

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it will hike prices across its entire model range by up to ₹30,000 from June 1, 2026, which will vary by model and variant. The company has cited rising input costs, inflationary pressures and an adverse cost environment as the reasons behind the price revision.
Maruti Suzuki has also stated that it has been trying to offset the cost impact through internal cost-reduction measures, but will now pass on a part of the increase to customers.
BMW India 2 Percent
BMW Group India has announced a price hike of up to 2% across its BMW and MINI vehicle lineup, effective July 1, 2026. The company cited rupee depreciation and rising logistics costs as the primary reasons behind the increase. The revision will apply to both locally assembled and imported models.
“To protect our premium standards against macroeconomic headwinds, specifically rupee depreciation and escalating logistics costs, we are introducing a price increase of up to 2% across our portfolio, effective 1 July 2026.”
— Hardeep Singh Brar, President & CEO, BMW Group India
This is the second price hike for BMW and MINI cars in India in 2026. The first increase of up to 2% came into effect in April 2026. Combined with the upcoming 2% hike from July 2026, BMW has raised prices by up to 4% across its portfolio this year. We expect other import-heavy luxury carmakers to follow suit in the coming months.
Hyundai India
Hyundai Motor India has confirmed a 1 percent price hike across its entire model lineup, effective from June 1, 2026. The automaker had first announced the price revision in April 2026, with the increase initially scheduled to come into effect from May 1. However, according to a recent regulatory filing, the implementation was deferred to June due to prevailing market conditions and customer considerations.
Depending on the model, prices are expected to go up by as much as Rs 12,800.
