Best SUVs Under 10 Lakhs

With rising demand for SUVs, automakers in India are doing everything to win the hearts of potential buyers. All of them are putting their best technology, features, and practicality into their products. However, there’s one thing that India is very sensitive to, and that’s the pricing of cars.

Sometimes, even good products don’t sell well owing to a higher price tag. On the other hand, most of the time, even a subpar product sells well, thanks to an affordable price tag. Let’s dive deeper into the Indian automotive market and know about the best SUVs to buy under 10 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices, add upto 1-2 lakhs more to account for RTO and other charges.

Nissan Magnite

The Nissan Magnite turned things around for the brand in India. Most of Nissan's earlier products failed to find traction, but the Magnite changed that with sharp pricing and a look that stood out in the segment.

It has since picked up a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult occupants, thanks to six airbags and ESC now standard across the range. A CNG option is also available via a government-approved retrofit kit. However, it does not get a sunroof, which remains a notable gap at this price.

Renault Kiger

The Renault Kiger shares its platform and powertrains with the Nissan Magnite but gets sportier styling and a wider stance. Its August 2025 facelift added refreshed styling, a revised cabin, six airbags as standard, and more safety features. Higher variants also get ventilated front seats, while a CNG option is available.

The pre-facelift model earned a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating, though the facelifted version is yet to be tested.

Renault's smaller service network compared to Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai is also worth considering.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Maruti Fronx is built on the Baleno's platform but wears a crossover body with a higher ride height and a bolder front end. Maruti's service network and relatively low running costs give it a strong practical case.

It is available with petrol, CNG, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with manual, AMT, or automatic gearboxes.

A facelift is expected later in 2026 or early 2027, likely bringing ADAS and a hybrid option, though neither is confirmed for launch yet.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is a rebadged Maruti Fronx with Toyota-specific styling changes and a slightly different feature mix. It shares the same platform, engines, and transmissions as the Fronx.

Six airbags are standard across all Taisor variants. However, it has not been tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP.

Toyota's service network, while not as wide as Maruti's, is known for consistency.

Tata Punch

The Tata Punch received a major update with the January 2026 facelift. The biggest addition is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine making 120 bhp, borrowed from the Nexon, which is the most powerful motor available in this class. A CNG-AMT combination is also new, making it the first car in the segment to offer a CNG automatic.

The facelift also brings a redesigned interior with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, 360-degree camera, and a connected tail lamp at the rear.

It scored a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupants.

Hyundai Venue

The second-generation Hyundai Venue is a major step up from the outgoing model. The new Venue is taller, wider, and comes with a longer wheelbase, translating to noticeably more cabin space at the rear. It also brings dual 12.3-inch curved screens, Level 2 ADAS, and a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

A diesel-automatic combination is available for the first time, addressing one of the most common requests from buyers. Additionally, all four-wheel disc brakes are standard, which is a segment first.

An N-Line variant is also offered for those who want a sportier look.

Kia Sonet

The Kia Sonet shares its platform with the Hyundai Venue but has its own distinct look, with an aggressive front face and a well-loaded cabin. It has received mid-cycle updates that make it a more rounded option than before.

The Sonet carries Level 1 ADAS, twin 10.25-inch screens on higher trims, ventilated front seats, and rear disc brakes.

Engine choices cover a 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel, each available with multiple gearbox options. Kia also made automatic variants more affordable, with the AT range now starting under Rs 10 lakh.

Skoda Kylaq

The Skoda Kylaq crossed 50,000 sales in early 2026, a notable result for a brand with limited service reach. It is built on the MQB-A0 IN platform, which also underpins the Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.

The 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol with 114 bhp is its only engine, but it gives the Kylaq a confident, well-sorted driving character that stands apart from most rivals. The 446-litre boot is among the largest in the segment.

The Kylaq earned a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupants. Skoda's limited dealer network and higher servicing costs remain the main drawbacks.

Tata Nexon

The Nexon was a game-changer car for Tata that brought bold styling with several powertrain choices - petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric. Constant updates have ensured that it remains relavant, and its excellent safety ratings make it stand out in the compact SUV space.

Its extensive variety of trims and Tata's wide service network in the country tip it into a popular and consistent option. The Nexon remains one of the most capable and dependable SUVs in its segment.

Mahindra XUV 3XO

The Mahindra XUV 3XO is a proper step forward from the XUV300, with a sharper design, a more feature-loaded cabin, and stronger engine options. It scored 5 stars at Bharat NCAP and comes with Level 2 ADAS standard on higher trims, making it one of the most safety-equipped options in this segment.

Two petrol engines are on offer, a 111 bhp and a more potent 131 bhp TGDi, alongside a 117 bhp diesel.

Kia Syros

The Kia Syros sits above the Sonet in size and features. It has a distinctive tall-boy design with a boxy silhouette and offers the most rear-seat space in this class. It scored a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupants.

In April 2026, Kia updated the Syros lineup with new variants and a lower starting price. The MY26 update removed the ADAS suite and 360-degree camera from the range to bring the entry price down.

Buyers wanting those features now need to look at the older HTX Plus trim on the used market. The Syros EV was also launched in July 2026.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift brings a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine making 110 bhp, which is the headline addition. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol carries over, and CNG is now available via an underbody dual-cylinder tank that does not eat into the boot space.

The facelift also brings a new 10.1-inch infotainment screen and refreshed styling at both ends. It also scored a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, and six airbags are now standard across all variants.

Maruti's service network remains its biggest advantage in the segment, and running costs are the lowest of any compact SUV on this list.
