Electric vehicle sales in India during the first two months of 2026 showed clear leadership by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, which sold 8,005 units in January and 4,961 units in February, reaching a total of 12,966 units.
The Nexon EV remained the most popular model in the segment. MG Motor India Pvt Ltd followed in second place with 6,044 units sold in January and 4,312 units in February, for a total of 10,356 units, led by the Windsor EV as its top-selling model.

Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd came third with 3,531 units in January and 2,665 units in February, totaling 6,196 units, where the XUV400 (now 3XO EV) was the leading model. Among the newer entrants, VinFast Auto India Pvt Ltd recorded 440 units in January and 374 units in February (total 814), with the VF7 performing best.
BYD India Private Limited sold 229 units in January and 274 units in February (total 503), driven mainly by the Atto 3.
Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd sold only 38 units in January and 28 units in February (total 66), with the Model Y as its sole offering in this period.

EV sales dropped in February 2026 compared to January for most companies because January benefited from strong early-year demand. Many buyers purchased vehicles at the start of the year to take advantage of existing discounts, offers, and government incentives before any possible changes.
