Tata Aeris Launched at Rs 5.29 Lakh, With a New Platform, Bigger Screen, and Ventilated Seats

Tata Motors has launched the Aeris sedan in India, at a price range of Rs 5.29 lakh to Rs 9.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The Aeris replaces the long-running Tigor and is not just a rebadge, as it rides on Tata's new X-Alfa architecture and brings a noticeably upgraded cabin, a larger touchscreen, and features that were unthinkable in this segment until now.

Bookings are open from today, with deliveries starting October 11.

Aeris Prices and Variants

The Aeris is offered in five variants: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative, and Accomplished, across petrol and CNG, pairede to MT and AMT options. Notably, the base Smart variant does not get an AMT option in either powertrains. All prices are introductory and ex-showroom.

Aeris Exterior Design

The Aeris moves away from the Tigor's soft, rounded look. It has a squared, planted stance with a lifted bonnet line and a more assertive, upright face. Signature LED headlamps with DRLs and Infinity LED connected tail lamps are called out as design highlights, available from the Creative variant upwards.

Ground clearance is 170mm, which Tata compares favourably against segment rivals.

The Accomplished top trim also gets a dual-tone roof option. Six colours are on offer, including Dandeli Drizzle, Nitro Crimson, Dune Glow, Daytona Grey, Puro Grey, and Pristine White, though the Smart variant is limited to just three of these.

Aeris Interior and Features

This is where the Aeris makes its strongest argument. From Creative onwards, the car gets a 26.03cm HD touchscreen, a 360-degree SVS HD camera with multiple 2D and 3D view modes, automatic climate control, and alloy wheels on petrol variants.

The Accomplished top trim adds AeroLux ventilated leatherette seats, a dual wireless charging deck, a 65W rear USB-C fast charger, an integrated dashcam with DVR, and access to Tata's iRA connected car suite covering 35 or more features.

Lower variants are not left out. Pure+ onwards gets rear AC vents, cruise control, a 65W front fast charger, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin also gains a front armrest, more usable centre console storage, and a rear centre armrest with cupholders from Pure+ upwards.

Boot space is 419 litres on the petrol variants. The CNG version uses a twin-cylinder setup positioned beneath the boot floor, which Tata says maximises usable boot space, measuring at a reduced capacity of 227 litres.

Aeris Powertrain

The Aeris uses a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86 PS and 113 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT. The CNG version produces 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm, and also gets both manual and AMT options.

Tata uses a twin-cylinder CNG setup with direct CNG start, meaning the car does not need to start on petrol and switch over, a convenience that matters for daily CNG users.

Aeris Safety

Six airbags are standard across all variants, which is a meaningful baseline for the segment. From Pure+ onwards, the Aeris gets Electronic Stability Program with traction control, hill hold control, and an intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system. The Creative variant adds a blind view monitor.

Aeris Rivals

The Aeris goes up against the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Aura in the compact sedan space.

The Dzire is the dominant player in sales volume and is hard to beat on value, but the Aeris counters with a bigger screen, ventilated seats, a blind view monitor, and a dashcam, none of which any rival offers at this price. The Aura and Amaze are more conservative in their feature sets.

If Tata can hold this pricing once the introductory period ends, the Aeris has a genuine case to make in a segment it has not cracked before.
