SUVs have become a go-to choice for families, blending practicality with modern features for daily commutes and weekend getaways. 

Following are some of the best three-row, 7-seater SUVs you can buy under ₹30 lakh ex-showroom, with their powertrain performance, third-row comfort and utility, and key safety features highlighted.

The Hyundai Alcazar Signature tops the Alcazar with dual powertrain choices at the same price. 

The 1.5 Petrol produces 158 bhp and 253 Nm via a seven-speed DCT, while the diesel delivers 114 bhp and 250 Nm through a six-speed torque converter. 

The third row remains usable with recline function, with a 180-litre boot with all seats up for loaded practicality. 

Safety features include six airbags, blind-spot view, and forward collision warning.

Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 L 

Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 S in Stealth Black

The Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 L is the fully loaded variant, and the facelift now comes in both 6-seat and 7-seat layouts.

It retains the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines with a six-speed manual or automatic. The six-seat Z8 L is not offered with four-wheel drive.

The third row gets premium leatherette and better bolstering, comfortable for families with easy access. Mahindra claims 768 litres of boot space with the third row folded.

The facelift adds a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. Safety runs to six airbags, a 540-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.

Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 L

The Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 L is the flagship variant of the SUV. It retains the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, mated to a six-speed torque-converter automatic. 

Its third-row comfort is boosted with vents and a recline option. 

The safety suite is significantly improved with 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS.

Tata Safari Accomplished Ultra Red Dark

Tata Safari Accomplished Ultra Red Dark

The Tata Safari Accomplished Ultra Red Dark variants are the flagship of the range, offered with both petrol and diesel options.

Third row practicality remains the same as well. It also boasts seven airbags and Level 2 ADAS.

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV Essence

MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV front profile

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is India's mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV, which pairs a 1.5 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Combined output is 198 hp and 230 Nm.

MG claims over 115 km on electric alone and more than 1,100 km combined on a full charge and a full tank. Both figures are awaiting final certification.

Six drive modes let it run as a pure EV, as a series hybrid with the engine generating electricity, or on engine power alone for highway cruising.

It is offered as a seven-seater only. Boot space is 192 litres with all rows up and 528 litres with the third row folded.
