| Rank | Model | Apr’26 Sales | Apr’25 Sales | YoY Growth | Starting Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tata Punch | 19,107 | 12,496 | +53% | Rs 5.65 lakh |
| 2 | Tata Nexon | 18,126 | 15,457 | +17% | Rs 8.10 lakh |
| 3 | Maruti Brezza | 14,124 | 16,971 | -17% | Rs 8.26 lakh |
| 4 | Hyundai Venue | 12,420 | 7,953 | +56% | Rs 7.54 lakh |
| 5 | Kia Sonet | 10,537 | 8,068 | +31% | Rs 7.99 lakh |
The Punch's 53 percent jump is the most dramatic number in this segment thanks to its recent facelift
What Tata effectively did was make India's cheapest SUV also its most versatile one, covering naturally aspirated petrol, CNG, turbo-petrol, and electric in a single body at a starting price of Rs 5.65 lakh. No other car in this list offers that breadth at that price.
The Nexon's 17 percent growth running alongside the Punch confirms that both are finding their own buyers rather than cannibalising each other, with the Nexon retaining its position as the feature-loaded, larger option for buyers with Rs 8 lakh and above to spend.

The Venue's 56 percent growth is the other standout, driven by Hyundai's mid-cycle refresh and a commonly agreed upon fact that Hyundai offerings are always more premium than its rivals.
The Sonet also logged decent sales with Kia's diesel-automatic positioning making it the only genuinely affordable diesel-automatic compact SUV in this segment right now. While the Brezza's minus 17 percent decline is the uncomfortable number but for a very good reason, a facelift is on its way. I guess buyers are smart enough to wait for a little bit in anticipation of better discounts.
