Kia Opens Pre-Bookings for Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG, and Carnival Limousine Hybrid

Kia India has opened pre-bookings for three new additions to its MPV range. The Carens CNG, the Carens Clavis CNG, and the Carnival Limousine Hybrid are all available for booking at any authorised Kia dealership across India, though prices have not been announced yet.

The current Carens is available in a single petrol variant, and the Clavis is the more feature-rich sibling. A factory-fitted CNG option on both will directly address the running cost question that MPV buyers in India routinely ask.

What the Carens and Carens Clavis CNGs Get

A factory-fitted setup is meaningfully different from an aftermarket kit. Both models share the naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 6-speed manual, now tuned for CNG use.

Carnival Limousine Hybrid

The Carnival Limousine Hybrid is the more interesting announcement of the three. It uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 180 hp and 265 Nm, combined with an electric motor that makes 73.4 hp and 304 Nm. That electric motor is notably stronger than the unit in the Kia Sorento Hybrid, by 8.4 hp and 40 Nm. The gearbox is a 6-speed automatic.

It is offered in the Limousine+ trim only and is aimed squarely at the chauffeur-driven buyer. Notably, the hybrid joins the existing 2.2-litre diesel Carnival and does not replace it. Key features are listed below.

Variants at a Glance

The Carens CNG comes in a single retail trim. The Clavis CNG offers two consumer-facing options in HTE and HTE (O), plus the HTM for fleet buyers.

Prices and Rivals

No ex-showroom figures have been announced yet for any of the three. All were first shown at Kia Inspiration Day, with pre-bookings now open across authorised dealerships.

When priced, the Carens CNG will go up against the Maruti Ertiga CNG and Toyota Rumion CNG. The Clavis CNG will take on the Maruti XL6 CNG, which is currently the most direct factory CNG rival in the premium MPV space.

Meanwhile, the Carnival Limousine Hybrid has no comparable rival in India at this point.
