Quick Read - The Hyundai Bayon comes in HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10 variants, with the HX5 being the sweet spot for most buyers, the HX8 adding ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera, and the HX10 iVT bringing the full ADAS and AI tech.
Hyundai has launched the Bayon, a midsize SUV that sits below the Creta in its range and already has deliveries underway. Prices run from ₹9.99 lakh to ₹18.00 lakh ex-showroom, and the SUV is built in India for more than 50 export markets too.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol making 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. It pairs with a 6-speed manual or an iVT automatic, which starts from the HX5. There is no turbo-petrol or diesel option, and a CNG version is due in January 2027.
Hyundai claims 18.6 km/l for the iVT, while the manual figure is yet to be announced. Dual-tone paint is optional from the HX5, and the Level 2 Pro ADAS, dual 12.3-inch curved displays and generative AI voice assistant are saved for the top HX10.
Six airbags and ESC are standard on every variant. Rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and Skoda Kushaq.
Here is every Bayon variant explained.

Bayon HX2

The HX2 carries all six airbags, ESC, TPMS and LED projector headlamps, so the safety basics match every other Bayon. That is its strongest argument.
The cabin is the problem. There is no touchscreen, speaker or Bluetooth, and a foldable key replaces push start. There is no rear camera either, and a tyre mobility kit replaces the spare wheel.
Pick it only for the lowest entry price, and plan on an aftermarket stereo. Most buyers should step up to the HX3.

Bayon HX3

The HX3 is the cheapest Bayon you can live with. It adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear camera and push start, fixing most of what the HX2 lacks.
AC is still manual, and there is no rear defogger, which hurts in north Indian winters and monsoons. Cruise control and connected features are also missing.
Buy it if the budget is firm and city driving dominates. Otherwise skip straight to the HX5, not the HX3+.
| Category | HX3 Specs |
|---|---|
| Engine & Transmission | 1.5L 4-cylinder MPi petrol, 115 PS, 143.8 Nm, 6-speed MT |
| Convenience | Smart key with push button start in place of the foldable key |
| Infotainment | 26.03 cm 10.25-inch ccNC touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, Bluetooth, front and rear speakers with front tweeters, steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls |

Bayon HX3+

The HX3+ adds an electric sunroof, roof rails and 17-inch steel wheels. That is the entire upgrade over the HX3, and the cabin stays unchanged.
It is poor value because the step up to the HX5 costs less than the step from HX3 to HX3+. The HX5 brings automatic climate control, cruise control, a wireless charger, rear defogger, auto headlamps and the iVT option.
Choose the HX3+ only if the cheapest sunroof is your top priority. Everyone else should skip it.
| Category | HX3+ Specs |
|---|---|
| Engine & Transmission | 1.5L 4-cylinder MPi petrol, 115 PS, 143.8 Nm, 6-speed MT |
| Exterior | Bridge type roof rails |
| Convenience | Electric sunroof |
| Wheel | R17 styled steel wheels, 215/55 R17 tyres |

Bayon HX5

The HX5 is where the Bayon starts feeling complete. Automatic climate control, cruise control, a wireless charger, rear defogger, auto headlamps, electric folding mirrors and Bluelink with OTA updates all arrive together.
It is also the cheapest way into the iVT, with paddle shifters and drive modes. Choose the iVT if your commute is mostly stop and go.
The gaps are visible. There is no rear wiper, the sunroof is not panoramic and the rear brakes are drums. If you want a manual, look at the HX6 first.
| Category | HX5 Specs |
|---|---|
| Engine & Transmission | 1.5L 4-cylinder MPi petrol, 115 PS, 143.8 Nm, 6-speed MT iVT option added, with paddle shifters, Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes, Dash Boost mode and Sporty Drive Tech |
| Exterior | LED rear turn indicators, automatic headlamps, electric folding ORVMs, optional dual-tone pack with black painted roof, spoiler and ORVMs |

| Infotainment | Hyundai Bluelink connected features, OTA updates for vehicle controllers, 3 years complimentary subscription |
| Interior | Optional black with red accents theme with the dual-tone exterior |
| Wheel | R17 styled steel wheels, 215/55 R17 tyres |
| Colours | Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze, Ecotronic Grey, Titanium Black Matte, Classy Blue Matte, Atlas White with Black Roof and Fiery Red with Black Roof |

Bayon HX6

The HX6 is the Bayon that finally looks the part. Dual LED projector headlamps, diamond-cut alloys, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a rear wiper and a leatherette steering wheel arrive here.
Most of the extra money buys looks and a bigger sunroof, since safety kit and gearbox choices match the HX5. There is still no 60:40 split rear seat and the rear brakes are still drums.
Pick it if kerb appeal matters. The HX6 MT is the best manual, while the HX5 iVT makes more sense for automatic buyers.
| Category | HX6 Specs |
|---|---|
| Engine & Transmission | 1.5L 4-cylinder MPi petrol, 115 PS, 143.8 Nm, 6-speed MT/iVT, with paddle shifters, Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes, Dash Boost mode and Sporty Drive Tech |

| Convenience | Panoramic sunroof in place of the electric sunroof, rear wiper and washer, luggage lamp |

| Wheel | R17 diamond cut alloy wheels, 215/55 R17 tyres |

Bayon HX8

The HX8 is the one for families and chauffeur-driven use. Ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, leatherette upholstery, a 60:40 split rear seat, a reclining rear backrest and a rear armrest all arrive here.
It also adds rear disc brakes, a surround view monitor, front and side parking sensors and a dashcam. Only the iVT gets the electronic parking brake with auto hold.
You still get the smaller touchscreen and no ADAS. If those matter less than comfort, this is the best value among the top trims.
| Category | HX8 Specs |
|---|---|
| Engine & Transmission | 1.5L 4-cylinder MPi petrol, 115 PS, 143.8 Nm, 6-speed MT/iVT, with paddle shifters, Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes, Dash Boost mode and Sporty Drive Tech |

Bayon HX10

The HX10 is the complete Bayon and the only one with ADAS, dual 12.3-inch curved displays, the generative AI voice assistant and Bose audio.
Buy the iVT. Highway driving assist, smart cruise control with stop and go and navigation-based cruise are iVT only, and Hyundai says they work only on mapped expressways. The manual gets 19 of the 23 features with a basic cruise control.
If you rarely leave the city, the HX8 gives you almost everything useful for much less.
| Category | HX10 Specs |
|---|---|
| Engine & Transmission | 1.5L 4-cylinder MPi petrol, 115 PS, 143.8 Nm, 6-speed MT/iVT, with paddle shifters, Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes, Dash Boost mode and Sporty Drive Tech Idle stop and go added |
| Convenience | Smart cruise control with stop and go in place of cruise control on iVT |
| Infotainment | 12.3-inch ccNC navigation touchscreen and 12.3-inch full digital cluster in a dual curved panoramic display, generative AI voice assistant with Perplexity and SoundHound AI, Bose premium 8-speaker system with front centre speaker and subwoofer, Bluelink on the 12.3-inch system |

What’s Common Across All Hyundai Bayon Variants?
Every Bayon gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, TPMS and rear parking sensors as standard. Hyundai says the Global K platform underneath is engineered for a 5-star Indian rating.
The rear discs arrive from the HX8 and every ADAS function only on the HX10. That gap matters if you are eyeing a lower trim.
All variants share the 1.5-litre engine, a 43 litre tank, 205 mm ground clearance, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, the Black and Olive Grey cabin, four power windows, rear AC vents and USB-C ports front and rear.

Hyundai offers an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 1,40,000 km, whichever comes first, across all Bayon variants. The Bluelink connected car subscription is free for the first 3 years and becomes paid after that.

Carhp’s Take
The Bayon fills the gap between the Venue and the Creta well on paper. It shares its engine and gearbox options with the Creta but starts at a lower price.
The pick of the range is the HX5 for automatic buyers and the HX6 for manual buyers who want the looks. Skip the HX3+ and think twice about the HX2. The HX10 iVT is the only version that delivers the technology Hyundai advertises.
Where the Bayon stands out is the cabin tech and a big 505 litre boot. Where it falls short is the engine, since there is no turbo-petrol or diesel option, while the Kushaq offers turbo-petrol power and the Hyryder a strong hybrid. Rear disc brakes waiting until the HX8 is also hard to defend at this price.
Hyundai says the platform is built for a 5-star rating, but the Bharat NCAP result is expected only by the end of this year. If running costs matter most, wait for the CNG in January, and if driving feel matters, test the Kushaq first.
