The Yamaha R15 V4 takes clear inspiration from its bigger sibling, the Yamaha R7, delivering a full-blown supersport look in a 155cc package. From its sharp, aerodynamic fairings to the sculpted 11-litre fuel tank and sleek tail section, the design screams performance. At the front, a single bi-functional LED headlamp with aggressive DRLs adds to the visual drama, while LED indicators finish off the clean rear section. Available in eight different color schemes—including MotoGP Edition, Metallic Grey, and Racing Blue—the paint quality and overall fit and finish are excellent for the segment. The R15M variant further elevates the look with a TFT display, unique badging, and carbon-fiber-style detailing. However, the use of halogen indicators on some variants feels like a missed opportunity in an otherwise modern design.

The Yamaha R15 V4 finds itself in a competitive segment that includes the KTM RC 200, Hero Karizma XMR, and Bajaj Pulsar NS200. The RC 200 brings more power from its 199cc engine and sharper track manners but demands a higher price. The Hero Karizma XMR is a strong value proposition with a 25.5 bhp engine, adjustable suspension, and practical ergonomics, all at a lower price point. The NS200, though raw and powerful, lacks the finesse, features, and refinement of the R15. At ₹1.85 to ₹2.12 lakh (ex-showroom), the R15 V4 may not be the cheapest, but it certainly justifies its pricing with premium equipment, electronics, and class-leading build quality.

The Yamaha R15 V4 remains a benchmark in the 150-160cc sportbike category. Its combination of sharp design, high-revving engine, and rider-focused features like traction control and quick-shifter make it one of the most complete offerings for enthusiasts. It’s a fantastic machine for someone looking to experience track-like performance and dynamics in an entry-level package. However, that sporty focus does come with compromises—daily ride comfort is limited, pillion practicality is poor, and the suspension isn’t forgiving over rough roads. Still, for those prioritizing performance and styling over outright comfort, the R15 V4 is tough to beat.
