Ola Electric Bikes

Ola Electric is one of the most ambitious players in India’s electric mobility sector. A spinoff from ride-hailing giant Ola, it entered the market in 2021 with the S1 and S1 Pro scooters, promising high range, futuristic design, and a vertically integrated production approach. Ola's scooters use high-capacity lithium-ion batteries, delivering range figures from 90 to 180 km, depending on the variant and usage conditions. Performance-wise, the scooters are quick off the line, with top speeds of up to 120 km/h.

The company operates its own “FutureFactory” in Tamil Nadu, touted as one of the world’s largest EV two-wheeler production plants. A unique selling point is the use of a minimalist, all-screen digital interface and features like cruise control, hill hold, and proximity unlock. Software updates are delivered OTA, making Ola scooters more like smart devices than traditional vehicles.

With prices starting around ₹1.1 lakh and going up to ₹1.6 lakh (ex-showroom), Ola competes directly with both mid-tier and premium electric scooters. It is also developing electric motorcycles and exploring battery swapping and energy solutions. Despite early hiccups in quality and service, Ola has established itself as a high-volume EV brand aimed at disrupting traditional two-wheeler norms.
