Volkswagen Virtus Overview

Hyundai Aura is a versatile sedan with spacious cabin, stable handling, and practical design, though competition from Dzire and Amaze is strong.

But it’s not just the looks. Once I stepped inside, I was pleasantly surprised by how Volkswagen maximized interior space in the Virtus. Unlike previous models like the Polo and Vento, where rear-seat comfort was a concern, the Virtus offers generous space in the back.
The rear seats are incredibly comfortable and spacious—definitely a significant improvement from the Vento. My only gripe is that the backrest feels a little too upright for long journeys, and I would have preferred a slight recline for added comfort.
That said, the interior exudes a premium feel, with piano-black finishes and a practical yet sophisticated layout that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a higher-end vehicle. Although, there’s almost
Then I checked out the boot. The 521 liters of trunk space is actually usable, and you can easily fit four or five suitcases of varying sizes without any issues. It’s a fantastic combination of practicality and style, making the Virtus a standout both inside and out.
exterior
The Volkswagen Virtus elevates sedan design to new heights. In a market where sedans either follow simple trends (like the Honda City) or veer into overly complicated designs (like the Hyundai Verna), and SUVs dominate the sales charts with their muscular looks, the Virtus strikes the perfect balance.
Being a sedan doesn’t mean you have to compromise on ground clearance, something many Indian buyers worry about. While it may not be a major concern if you’re used to handling rough roads, the Virtus boasts an impressive ground clearance of 179 mm — almost 10% more than what you get in the Hyundai Verna or Honda City.
Additionally, unlike its predecessor, the Vento, the Virtus feels more substantial — even slightly bulky — with a presence that evokes the premium Jetta. For those who have admired the Jetta’s appeal, the Virtus channels its spirit, offering a taste of premium sedan experience at a more accessible price point.
buying advice
I’ve used the word “surprising” quite a bit because the Volkswagen Virtus is full of surprises. It’s almost nothing like a typical Volkswagen, yet it still embodies the brand’s essence. It feels like the perfect mix of performance and practicality for Indian conditions, with all the German engineering you expect—minus the harshness.
It’s as if Hrithik Roshan and Diane Kruger had a baby—unbelievable performance, fantastic looks, and the ability to digest spicy Indian foods without breaking a sweat.
