The Volkswagen's MQB Evo-based Tayron is offered in five-seat Life and seven-seat R-Line trims.

It includes body-coloured cladding, a panoramic sunroof, and animated LED lighting, while the R-Line adds gloss black styling and Matrix headlights.

Inside, standard kit features massaging 12-way front seats, dual wireless chargers, 3-zone climate control, and a digital driver's display. The R-Line brings a 15-inch touchscreen, Harman Kardon audio, a head-up display, and third-row seating.

Both run a 2.0-litre TSI engine producing 204 PS and 320 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Nine airbags and a full Level 2 ADAS suite handle safety on the move.

The exterior can be finished in Ultraviolet, Oyster Silver, Cipressino Green, Dolphin Grey, Nightshade Blue, or Grenadilla Black metallic paints, alongside the Oryx White Mother of Pearl effect.

Engine and Performance

The Tayron is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI EVO turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 204 PS (150 kW) and 320 Nm of torque.

Drive goes to all four wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic with 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel drive.

fuel economy

Official ARAI-certified fuel economy figures for the Tayron stands at approximately 12.6 kmpl.

The fuel tank capacity is 61 litres.

interior

Inside, the Tayron features a 10.25-inch digital display. The Life gets a 12.9-inch touchscreen, while the R-Line upgrades to a 15-inch screen, head-up display, and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon stereo across the soft-touch dashboard.

The 12-way adjustable front seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions. A heated leather steering wheel is standard, alongside three-zone climate control, dual wireless chargers, and a sliding centre console with clever storage.

Rear passengers get sliding and reclining seats with a 40:20:40 split, dedicated air vents, sun blinds, and fast-charging USB-C ports. The R-Line goes a step further by adding a mechanical third row.

Boot space in the Life variant is 885 litres, expanding to 2,090. The R-Line offers 345 litres, growing to 1,905.

Customisable ambient lighting completes the cabin, with up to 30 colours available.

exterior

On the outside, at the front the Tayron features an illuminated Volkswagen badge and LED mouldings. The Life trim gets standard LED headlamps and a silver front bar with chrome grille accents.

The R-Line upgrades to IQ.LIGHT HD Matrix headlights with dynamic cornering. Its sportier bumper includes enlarged air intakes, body-coloured details, a black grille, and a silver underbody diffuser.

Along the sides, the Life trim sits on 18-inch Bologna alloys with matte black cladding. The R-Line moves up to 19-inch Coventry wheels, set alongside gloss black side trims.

Both share body-coloured door panels, chrome window surrounds, illuminated handles, and a standard panoramic sunroof. Heated, power-folding mirrors feature projection lights, whilst the R-Line adds driver-side auto-dimming.

At the rear, standard exterior equipment includes a roof spoiler and LED tail lamps. The R-Line finishes with a unique lighting pattern and a body-coloured bumper housing a full-length reflector.

safety

Both Tayron variants feature nine airbags as standard, including a centre airbag, alongside a deactivatable front-passenger airbag. Pretensioners are also offered on all seatbelts and i-Size ISOFIX anchors for child seats.

A Level 2 ADAS suite is standard across the range. The R-Line trim adds a proactive passenger protection system and masked active high beams, whereas the Life variant receives standard high-beam control.

All-round disc brakes handle stopping duties.

Additional safety hardware includes electronic stability control with an electromechanical booster, an electronic differential lock, hill start and descent assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and anti-pinch windows.

competition

The Tayron closely competes with the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian in it segment and price bracket.

The Kodiaq is available from a lower entry point across three variants, and its lighter kerb weight gives it a marginal efficiency edge, with ARAI-rated at 14.86 kmpl. The Tayron counters with a larger 15-inch infotainment screen, a head-up display, and more front seat adjustability.

The Meridian offers diesel powertrains, which the Tayron does not, making it the more practical long-distance option for high-mileage buyers. It also comes in at a meaningfully lower starting point. The Tayron, however, has a much more complete ADAS suite, 9 airbags versus 6, and a considerably more premium cabin.
