The Tata Punch EV facelift builds on the strong foundation of the original model with meaningful upgrades in range, charging speed, features, and overall refinement. Prices start at ₹9.69 lakh ex showroom, with the added flexibility of a Battery as a Service option to lower upfront costs.

The new 40 kWh battery claims 468 km ARAI range, with around 355 km in real-world conditions. A 65 kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes. Enhanced safety, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and over 60 safety features further strengthen its appeal.

engine and performance

The heart of the 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift lies in its upgraded powertrain, featuring two new battery options on the acti.ev platform: a 30 kWh pack for mid-range variants and a 40 kWh LFP Prismatic Cells pack for long-range (LR) models. These replace the previous 25 kWh and 35 kWh units, offering denser, more efficient batteries with improved thermal management for reliability across Indian climates.

he 30 kWh variant delivers 88 PS (87 bhp) and 154 Nm of torque, while the 40 kWh boosts to 129 PS (127 bhp) and likely around 190 Nm. Both use a permanent magnet synchronous motor with front-wheel drive, multi-mode regenerative braking (0-3 levels via paddle shifters), and three drive modes: Eco, City, Sport—providing up to 12 combinations for efficiency or thrill.

Range figures are impressive: the 30 kWh claims 365-375 km ARAI (275 km real-world C75 (Tata owns standard is called C75), while the 40 kWh achieves 468 km ARAI and around 355 km C75, with mixed driving yielding 300-350 km depending on conditions. Acceleration is brisk—0-100 km/h in about 9.5 seconds for LR making it responsive for city overtakes, with a top speed of 140 km/h. Regenerative braking captures energy during coasting or braking, extending range by up to 10-15 percent in traffic.

Charging has been significantly improved. Using a 15A portable charger (10-100 percent), the 30 kWh takes around 11.5 hours and the 40 kWh about 14.75 hours. A 7.2 kW AC wall box reduces this to 4.5 hours and 6 hours respectively. With 65 kW DC fast charging, both achieve 10-80 percent in just 26 minutes, adding up to 135 km in 15 minutes. The front-mounted CCS2 port includes IP67 protection. A lifetime HV battery warranty for the first owner, along with 8 years or 1.6 lakh km standard coverage, adds reassurance.

interior

Inside, the 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift offers a premium, tech-laden cabin that punches above its weight in comfort and convenience. The dashboard adopts a clean, minimalist layout with high-quality materials, including soft-touch plastics, varied textures, and a black-and-white or white-grey theme depending on the variant, creating an airy, spacious feel.

Front seats are wide with excellent bolstering, height adjustment for the driver, and now include ventilation (three fan speeds) to combat heat during long drives or traffic. The two-spoke steering wheel features an illuminated logo, tilt adjustment, and multifunction controls, while doors open 90 degrees for easy access.

Rear seating accommodates four comfortably in a 4InRow configuration, though space is average tall passengers may find knee room tight, but the scooped headliner provides ample headroom. A central armrest is present, but no rear AC vents; however, bottle holders, seatback pockets, and ISOFIX anchors enhance practicality. Storage is generous: 1-litre door pockets, a cooled glovebox, wireless charger tray, cup holders, and a 366-litre boot (expandable via split-folding seats) for luggage or groceries.

Infotainment is a highlight with dual 10.25-inch screens—a HD Harman touchscreen and digital driver's display. The system supports wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, multiple voice assistants (Siri, Alexa, Google), and the Arcade.ev 2.0 app suite for entertainment like games or streaming when parked.

A 6-speaker audio setup (4 speakers + 2 tweeters) delivers crisp sound. Connectivity via iRA.ev app offers over 60 features, including remote monitoring, geofencing, and smartwatch integration (one-year subscription included). Other amenities: touch-based climate controls, air purifier, jeweled control knob for the drive selector, single-pane sunroof (voice-activated on top trims), keyless entry, push-button start, and auto headlamps/rain-sensing wipers.

exterior

The 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift refines its bold, SUV-like stance with subtle yet impactful updates that enhance its modern, premium appeal. Measuring 3857 mm in length, 1742 mm in width, and 1633 mm in height, with a 2445 mm wheelbase, it retains the compact footprint ideal for urban maneuvering while boasting a 190-195 mm ground clearance for light off-road capability and a 400 mm water-wading depth. T

he front fascia has been redesigned with a sleeker bumper, split LED headlamps, full-width LED DRLs that double as charge indicators, and a new two-dimensional black-and-white Tata logo integrated into the charging flap. Fog lamps are positioned lower, and sequential turn indicators add a welcome/goodbye animation for flair.

On the sides, the silhouette remains familiar with black wheel arch claddings, hidden rear door handles for a coupe-like look, and ORVM-mounted indicators. New dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels (195/60 R16 tires) in hyper-style design elevate the premium feel, while low rolling resistance tires improve efficiency. At the rear, connected LED tail lights replace the previous setup, creating a wider, more contemporary appearance, complemented by a spoiler, rear wiper, and silver bumper cladding with an '.ev' badge. The design draws inspiration from the Nexon EV, emphasizing a clean, grille-less front to highlight its electric nature.

Available in seven vibrant colors—Fearless Yellow, Bengal Rouge, Caramel, Empowered Oxide, Supernova Copper, Pure Grey, and Pristine White—the facelift adds Pure Grey and Supernova Copper as new options. Dual-tone roofs are offered on higher variants for added customization. Build quality is solid, with consistent panel gaps, high-quality paint, and robust plastics that withstand daily abuse.

safety

Safety remains a cornerstone of the Tata Punch EV facelift, building on its 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (31.46/32 adult, 45/49 child protection) with over 60 features standard across variants. Structural integrity is enhanced by the acti.ev platform's high-strength steel and optimized crash structure. Six airbags are standard, along with ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, hill descent control, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Advanced tech includes a 360-degree surround view camera with dynamic guidelines, blind-spot monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring system, and seatbelt reminders with high-speed alerts. The electronic parking brake with auto hold prevents rollbacks, while impact-sensing auto door unlock and SOS calling ensure quick response. Additional aids like rear parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers improve visibility and control.

The IP67-rated battery and motor are built to withstand harsh conditions. All-disc brakes on LR variants enhance stopping power. Compared to rivals, its safety suite remains one of the strongest in the segment.

competition

Primary rival is the Citroen eC3 (₹11.61-13.41 lakh), which offers a 320 km range but fewer premium features. The Tata Tiago EV (₹7.99-11.89 lakh) provides up to 315 km range but is smaller and more hatchback-focused. The MG Comet EV (₹6.99-9.53 lakh) is city-centric with a 230 km range.

Stepping up, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV (₹13.89 lakh onwards) offers around 375 km range with a larger footprint. The Tata Nexon EV (₹12.49 lakh onwards) provides up to 465 km range with more cabin space but at a higher price point.
