Bharat NCAP has granted the 2026 Tata Punch EV a 5-star rating.
The electric micro SUV scored 31.09 out of 32 points for adult occupant safety and 45 out of 49 points for child occupant safety.
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it offered effective protection for the head, neck and lower body. Chest and lower leg protection was rated sufficient.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, head and abdomen protection was effective while chest protection was adequate. The side pole impact test also showed solid protection.
For child safety, the Punch EV scored a full 24/24 in dynamic tests and 12/12 for CRS installation. The vehicle assessment score was 9 out of 13.
Just like the standard production model, the test car was equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX seat mounts, seat belt warning system and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). These features support both crash prevention and occupant protection.

Why the Score Matters
A score of 31.09 out of 32 means the Punch EV came within one point of the maximum achievable adult protection score.
It also showed consistent safety across frontal, side-impact and pole-impact tests.

Acti.ev Platform Milestone
The Punch EV rides on Tata Motors’ dedicated Acti.ev architecture, built for electric vehicles.
Apart from supporting larger batteries and faster charging, the platform has reinforced structural elements that improve crash protection.
With this result, Tata Motors has yet another car boasting a BNCAP 5-Star safety rating from its lineup.
