MG Comet EV

MG Comet EV Blackstorm

The MG Comet EV’s compact dimensions make it perfect for city traffic and easy parking in tight spots. It is the most affordable EV here, with BaaS offering further savings.

It is powered by a 17.3 kWh (17.4 kWh in the Blackstorm edition) lithium-ion battery, with its rear-mounted motor producing around 40 bhp and 110 Nm of torque.

MG claims an ARAI-certified range of 230 km on a full charge. Real-world range in mixed city and highway driving is typically 170-190 km, enough for most daily city commutes.

A standard 3.3 kW AC charger takes about 7 hours for a full 0-100% charge (around 5.5 hours to 80%).

The Excite FC and Exclusive FC variants offer fast charging capability, adding a 7.4 kW AC option that takes roughly 3.5 hours for a 0-100% charge. There is no DC fast-charging support.

Top-end variants get leatherette seats, dual 10.25-inch displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected features, steering controls, and a reverse camera.

Standard safety includes ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold assist, electronic parking brake, parking sensors, and an IP67-rated battery pack. Brakes are disc front and drum or disc rear, depending on the variant.

Tata Tiago EV Medium Range

Tata Tiago EV

The Tiago EV’s XE and XT Medium Range variants are priced under ₹10 lakh.

These variants use a 19.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, with the front-mounted motor delivering 60 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. Tata claims an ARAI range of 223 km, with real-world range in mixed driving coming down to 150-180 km.

With the included 3.3 kW AC charger, it takes about 6.9 hours for a 10-100% charge. An optional 7.2 kW AC wall box reduces this to around 2.6 hours. DC fast charging (up to 25 kW) brings the battery from 10-80% in 58 minutes.

Dual-tone fabric seats, auto AC, a digital cluster, and tilt steering are standard. The XT adds a 7-inch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering controls, voice commands, and connected app features.

Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre-pressure monitoring, seat-belt reminders, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and an IP67-rated battery and motor as standard. The XT adds rear parking sensors and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Tata Punch EV facelift

The Punch EV facelift is priced starting from ₹9.69 lakh, and starts at ₹6.49 lakh under the BaaS scheme (₹2.6/km).

It packs a 30 kWh lithium-ion battery under the floor, with its front-mounted motor producing likely around 80 bhp and 114 Nm of torque.

Tata has not revealed range figures for this battery pack, but it could offer a higher range than the pre-facelift model's 25kWh unit. Expect a real-world range of up to 250 km, making it suitable for longer drives and fewer charges per week.

A 65 kW CCS2 DC fast charger takes the battery from 20 to 80 per cent in 26 minutes, adding up to 135 km of range in just 15 minutes. Other options include a 7.2 kW wallbox charger and a 3.3 kW home charger.

The interior features Fabric dual-tone seats, auto AC, digital instrument cluster, and tilt steering. A high seating position and 366-litre boot make it more practical for family use or weekend trips.

Safety stands out with six airbags, a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, ABS with EBD and ESP, traction control, hill-hold assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX mounts. The Punch EV facelift also boasts an impressive 450 mm water wading capacity.

MG Windsor EV (BaaS)

MG Windsor EV

The MG Windsor EV is a spacious five-seater with MPV-like comfort. Its entry-level Excite variant falls just below the ₹10 lakh mark under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) scheme. The battery rental costs ₹3.9 per kilometre.

It uses a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery, with the front-mounted motor delivering 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. MG claims an ARAI range of 332 km.

Real-world range in mixed city and highway driving is typically 220-250 km, making it suitable for daily family use and occasional longer trips.

The standard 3.3 kW AC charger takes about 13-14 hours for 0-100%. An optional 7.4 kW AC charger reduces this to around 6.5 hours. DC fast charging (up to 50 kW) brings the battery from 10-80% in roughly 55 minutes.

Pre-Owned EV Cars

If you want bigger and better EVs, but are strictly on a ₹10 lakh budget, you can find some good options in the used car market.

Well-maintained models, including the Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, and top-end variants of the Tata Punch EV are available in the ₹8 lakh to ₹10 lakh range.
