The Punch EV is built on Tata's acti.ev platform, and competes directly with the Citroen eC3 but in practical terms sits closer to the Nexon EV territory on features while being priced significantly below it.
If you're considering something smaller and cheaper, Tata is also launching the facelifted Tiago EV, along side the ICE model, on May 28, with the former expected to start around ₹8 lakh with a redesigned exterior and a 360-degree camera, though battery and range details are still unconfirmed at time of writing.
For buyers who need a proper SUV body stance, 195 mm of ground clearance, and longer real-world range, the Punch EV remains the more complete proposition.
Tata Punch EV Prices And Variants Summary
The Punch EV is offered in five trim levels - Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, Empowered+ S, across two battery pack sizes. The entire range spans ₹2.90 lakh from base to top, opening with the Smart at ₹9.69 lakh, the only variant restricted to the smaller 30 kWh battery.
The Smart+ meanwhile, gets both packs, ₹10.29 lakh for the 30 kWh and ₹10.89 lakh for the 40 kWh, and the ₹60,000 gap between them is one of the most consequential decisions in the lineup, given how much hardware changes between the two.
From the Adventure onward, every variant runs exclusively on the 40 kWh pack. The Adventure stands at ₹11.59 lakh, Empowered at ₹12.29 lakh, and the top-spec Empowered+ S at ₹12.59 lakh.
Notably, that ₹30,000 gap between the Empowered and Empowered+ S is the tightest step in the lineup and the one that most rewards stretching.

| Safety & Tech | 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, iTPMS, ISOFIX, rear parking sensors |
| Highlight Features | 5 Star safety, 250-300 km of real-world range, SUV like ground clearance, lifetime battery warranty for first owner |

| Models Available | Smart [30 kWh], Smart+ [30 kWh / 40 kWh], Adventure [40 kWh], Empowered [40 kWh], Empowered+ S [40 kWh] |
Physically, all variants share the same body dimensions, 3880 mm length, 195 mm ground clearance, 2445 mm wheelbase, and 366 litres of boot space.
Underneath, the platform is Tata's acti.ev architecture with a liquid-cooled battery system carrying IP67 protection for both the motor and battery pack, an important real-world spec given Indian monsoon conditions. Depending on the chosen setup, the 30 kWh variants produce 88 hp, while 40 kWh variants produce 129 hp.
Tied directly to this powertrain, multi-mode regenerative braking with four levels is available from the base, though paddle shifters to control it come only from Smart+ upward.
On the safety front, every Punch EV comes with a 5 star BNCAP rating, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, ISOFIX child seat anchors, Hill Hold Assist, and Tata's intelligent Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. This is meaningful, as 6 airbags being standard even in a ₹9.69 lakh car is not a given in this segment, and it's one of the stronger arguments for the Punch EV over similarly-priced ICE options.
Inside the cabin, the i-FATC automatic climate control is standard across all variants, and there's no manual AC on any trim. Alongside this, iRA.ev connected car tech and smartwatch connectivity are standard, though the base gets 50+ features and higher trims unlock 10 additional ones.
Here is what you get with each of the Punch EV variant
Punch EV Smart Base Model

Who Should Buy The Tata Punch EV Smart Base Model?
The Smart 30 is Tata's sub-₹10 lakh EV, whose real-world C75 range lands at 260-275 km, which is workable for a daily commute under 60-65 km if you have a home charger, but that's the full extent of the use case.
Highways and occasional intercity runs at this range margin become stressful exercises in battery management.
The harder issue is the absence of a touchscreen. At ₹9.69 lakh, you get a 10.16 cm instrument cluster with no Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and no paddle shifters, meaning regenerative braking is locked to a single mode with no adjustment.
The Smart+ at ₹60,000 more fixes the touchscreen, adds paddle shifters, and for ₹1.20 lakh total you can access the 40 kWh's motor which cuts the 0-100 time from 13.5 seconds to 9 seconds.

Punch EV Smart+ Model

Who Should Buy The Tata Punch EV Smart+ Model?
The Smart+ is where the Punch EV earns its keep as a real daily car, as a 20.32 cm Harman touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay arrives, along with paddle shifters for braking regeneration control and 4 speakers.
Between the two battery options, the Smart+ 40 at ₹10.89 lakh is the only rational pick for ₹60,000 over the 30 kWh, as you gain the 129 hp motor, 335-355km real-world range, three drive modes including Eco, an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, camera-based reverse parking assist, and R16 steel wheels.
This variant targets the buyer converting from a petrol hatchback who wants EV running costs and reliable daily range without paying for features they won't regularly use.
Note that keyless entry, cruise control, and alloy wheels are absent, and if those aren't priorities and city driving represents 80% of your usage, the Smart+ 40 is the value inflection point in the lineup.
What features does Tata Punch EV Smart+ add/upgrades over Smart?
Smart+ adds a Harman touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers, steering controls and 65W Type-C charging.

Punch EV Adventure Model

Who Should Buy The Tata Punch EV Adventure Model?
The Adventure adds Push Button Start with keyless entry, cruise control, hill descent control, and electrically adjustable ORVMs over the Smart+ 40. At ₹70,000 more, cruise control alone justifies the step for frequent highway users.
Also, hill descent control is unusual at this price bracket, which is relevant for hilly regions and users navigating steep multilevel parking structures.
The catch is what the Adventure withholds: steel wheels, wired Android Auto only, no 360° camera, no digital cockpit, no auto headlamps, and no alloy wheels, at ₹11.59 lakh.
Meanwhile, the Empowered at ₹70,000 more addresses nearly every one of these omissions while adding the 26.03 cm digital cockpit and wireless connectivity.
What features does Tata Punch EV Adventure add/upgrades over Smart+?
Adventure stands out with keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, hill descent control, electric ORVMs and hyper-style steel wheels.
| Category | Specs |
|---|---|
| Comfort & Convenience | Push Button Start/Stop (PEPS), Keyless Entry, Cruise Control, Hill Descent Control, Electric Adjustable ORVMs |
| Exterior & Lighting | Follow Me Home Headlights |
| Wheels & Colours | R16 Hyper-style Steel Wheels, Single tone colours: caramel, supernova copper, pure grey, bengal rouge, pristine white |

Punch EV Empowered Model

Who Should Buy The Tata Punch EV Empowered Model?
The Empowered is where the Punch EV becomes a complete urban product, as it adds the 26.03 cm HD Harman infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a matching 26.03 cm digital cockpit with driver-view navigation, 360° Surround View Camera, and Blind Spot View Monitor.
It also adds auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, diamond-cut alloy wheels, an air purifier, and electric ORVMs with auto-fold.
The Blind Spot Monitor is particularly relevant in dense urban traffic, while the 360° camera at ₹12.29 lakh is class-leading, because several ICE SUVs at ₹15-17 lakh skip it.
The weakness however is that the Empowered+ S sits just ₹30,000 higher and adds ventilated seats, a sunroof, leatherette upholstery, Smart LED headlamps with auto-on, wireless smartphone charging, auto-dimming IRVM, roof rails, and a rear armrest. That gap makes the Empowered the weakest value argument in the lineup.
That said, the Empowered is a sweet pick if you do not object to the lack of sunroof and leather interiors.
What features does Tata Punch EV Empowered add/upgrades over Adventure?
Empowered feels properly premium with 360-degree camera, digital cockpit, wireless phone mirroring, auto headlamps and diamond-cut alloys.
| Category | Specs |
|---|---|
| Comfort & Convenience | Auto Headlamps, Rain Sensing Wiper, Rear Wiper and Auto Defogger, Front Armrest with Storage, Air Purifier, Cooled Glovebox, Electric ORVM with Auto Fold, USB Type - A+C Fast Charging Port (65W), Rear USB Type - C Fast Charging Port (15W), Dual Tone Roof |
| Infotainment & Connectivity | 26.03 cm HD Infotainment by HARMAN, 26.03 cm Digital Cockpit, Navigation in Cockpit (Driver View Maps), Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, iRA.ev and Smartwatch connectivity - with 10 additional features, Arcade.ev 2.0 App Suite, Multiple Voice Assistants (“Hey Tata”, Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant), Alexa Car to Home |
| Safety | 360° Surround View Camera System, Blind Spot View Monitor |
| Exterior & Lighting | Digital Infinity Glow End-to-End Tail Lamp |
| Wheels & Colours | R16 Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels, Dual tone colours: fearless yellow, empowered oxide, caramel, supernova copper, pure grey, bengal rouge, pristine white |
| Battery Pack | Only available in 40 kWh |

Punch EV Empowered+ S Top Model

Who Should Buy The Tata Punch EV Empowered+ S Model?
The Empowered+ S is the most disproportionate deal in the Punch EV range. For ₹30,000 over the Empowered, you get a voice-assisted electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, Smart LED headlamps, front LED fog lamps with cornering function, wireless smartphone charging, auto-dimming IRVM, roof rails, rear armrest, and SOS calling.
Ventilated seats in the Indian context are not a luxury item, as they're a functional daily necessity from May through September across most of the country, and no other electric car under ₹13 lakh offers them.
The Empowered+ S also undercuts the Nexon EV's base variant while delivering a more feature-complete interior. So if your budget can reach a somewhat above ₹12.59 lakh, there is no rational argument for stopping at the Empowered.
What features does Tata Punch EV Empowered+ S add/upgrades over Empowered?
The top model Empowered+ S adds sunroof, ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery, wireless charger, LED fog lamps and smart LED headlamps.
| Category | Specs |

Should I Buy The Tata Punch EV?
| Consider Tata Punch EV if | Don’t consider Tata Punch EV if |
|---|---|
| You want a decent enough range from a manufacturer that is quite serious about its EV portfolio. | You regularly do interstate trips. You may have trouble finding chargers that work reliably and are fast enough. |
| You are on a tight budget and want to spend just enough to get around 250km of real-world range. | You live in a place where installing a 7kW wallbox charger is difficult and frequent power cuts are common. |
| You travel mainly in cities. Nothing beats an EV in the urban jungle. | You plan to buy this as your only car. While the Punch EV is value for money, a CNG option may offer better peace of mind. |
| You are tired of oil changes, leaking fluids, exhaust emissions, and regular engine maintenance. | You have trouble adapting to regen modes and one-pedal driving. |
| You want to do your part in helping the planet while driving one of the most economical and safest EV ever made. | You are not ready to deal with infotainment glitches, minor software bugs, and Tata’s world-famous “fully satisfying” customer service |
