The Tata Punch has reached a major sales milestone, crossing 7 lakh units sold since its launch in India. Out of these, 2 lakh unit sales were recorded in the last 12 months from January to December 2025, showing strong ongoing demand.
In January 2026, the Punch set a new record with over 19,000 units sold, its best monthly figure yet. This compact SUV has become one of the favourite choices among car buyers for its mix of style, safety, capability, and value-for-money factor.
Mini SUV Look
The Punch stands out with its mini SUV styling that gives it an edge over hatchbacks like the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and Maruti Swift in the same price range, crucial at a time when the majority of car buyers are shifting towards SUVs and crossovers.
It boasts great ride quality, with around 190 mm of ground clearance, which helps it handle bumpy roads and rough paths with ease. Its 400 mm water wading depth makes navigating flooded streets during heavy rains relatively easier.
Practicality and Comfort

The Punch offers a high seating position with a clear view of the road ahead, boosting driver confidence. Its cabin feels spacious for its compact dimensions, with enough room for five people. It features 90-degree-opening doors for easy entry and exit, while the flat rear floor adds legroom for the centre passenger, making it ideal for families.
Versatile Powertrain Options
Buyers love the Punch for its adaptable engine choices that suit different needs. It uses a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (86 bhp/115 Nm), which also comes with factory-fitted CNG variants (72 bhp/103 Nm). Both options can be had with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT.
With its 2026 facelift, Tata Motors has also introduced a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine option, making 120 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, targeting enthusiasts as the Punch was not viewed as a fun-to-drive car previously.

Feature-Packed Interior

Higher variants of the Punch come loaded with modern amenities. A 10.25-inch touchscreen handles infotainment, supported by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other highlights include a 360-degree camera for parking, a voice-controlled sunroof, and automatic climate control, giving it a premium feel at an affordable price.
Impressive Safety Suite
Safety is a major reason for the Punch's success. Standard equipment includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and three-point seatbelts for all seats.
Top trims add a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, an auto-dimming inside rear view mirror, hill-descent control, and cornering fog lamps. The Punch has earned five-star ratings from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP, valid for all the variants.
Pricing and Variant Choices

With 26 variants on offer, the Tata Punch is priced from ₹5.60 lakh to ₹10.55 lakh (ex-showroom prices), meaning that there is a Punch for almost everyone, depending on your budget and requirements.
