Yamaha YZF-R2 Overview

The YZF-R2 trademark was officially filed and accepted in India, confirming this is a real product in active development. Codenamed Project 070, it will use a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine displacing around 200cc, with an estimated output of 24 to 25 PS. It will be designed, developed, and manufactured at Yamaha's Chennai plant for both domestic sales and exports, and will sit above the R15 without replacing it. Rivals will include the KTM RC 200 and Hero Karizma XMR 210. Pricing is expected around Rs 2 lakh ex-showroom, with launch timed for the festive season of 2026.
