Hero MotoCorp Leads Two-Wheeler Sales in March 2026 With Over 5 Lakh Units Sold
Honda and TVS completed the top three, not too far behind Hero.

India’s two-wheeler industry started 2026 on a solid footing, with March showing strong recovery for most major manufacturers.
Hero MotoCorp retained its position as the market leader, while Honda, TVS, and Bajaj continued to battle for the top spots.

Note: Sales of Chetak EV, KTM, Triumph (specific 400CCs) and Husqvarna are often consolidated under Bajaj. Triumph India (imported ones like Street triple, Tiger, etc.) sold about 77 units in March.
Hero MotoCorp Ltd
Hero MotoCorp kicked off 2026 strongly with 4,92,575 units in January, dipped to 4,58,430 in February, and roared back to a record 5,08,135 in March.
The evergreen Splendor (especially Splendor Plus) continues as India’s best-selling motorcycle by a huge margin, often crossing 3 lakh units monthly, followed by the HF Deluxe.
They are also pushing premium motorcycles like the Xtreme 250R while expanding their electric portfolio through Hero Lectro and Vida.
With the widest service network in the country, Hero maintains its throne as India’s largest two-wheeler maker by volume.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India
Honda posted massive numbers with 4,74,055 units in January, 4,32,414 in February, and 4,50,657 in March.
The Activa scooter remains the undisputed king of two-wheelers (often 2.5 lakh+ units monthly), while the Shine 125 and SP 125 dominate the 125cc commuter motorcycle space.
The company is steadily growing its premium motorcycle lineup and has begun pushing hybrids.
Despite trailing Hero slightly, Honda’s consistent quality and brand trust keep it neck-and-neck at the top.
TVS Motor Company Ltd
TVS delivered 3,65,394 units in January, 3,35,134 in February, and 3,59,145 in March.
The Jupiter scooter leads volumes, while the Apache series (especially RTR 160/180) rules the performance commuter segment. The electric iQube continues its strong growth trajectory.
With upcoming models and heavy investment in EVs, TVS is successfully moving beyond its traditional base into premium and electric territories.

Bajaj Auto Ltd
Bajaj Auto recorded 1,96,299 units in January, 1,81,482 in February, and a strong 2,03,754 in March.
The Pulsar range (especially Pulsar 125/150/NS series) remains the heart of their sales, delivering performance at affordable prices. The Dominar holds strong in the premium tourer space.
In 2026, they are launching new 350cc Pulsar and Dominar variants along with refreshed models.
Bajaj continues to target young, enthusiastic buyers who want thrills without ultra-premium pricing.
Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd
Suzuki moved 99,401 units in January, 94,790 in February, and 94,265 in March.
The Access 125 scooter is their volume driver, consistently delivering strong numbers, supported by the premium Burgman Street. They maintain a balanced approach with motorcycles like the Gixxer in the background.
Known for smooth engines and low maintenance, Suzuki targets practical urban buyers who value Japanese quality and efficiency over raw performance.
Royal Enfield (Eicher Ltd)
Royal Enfield sold 1,08,277 units in January before cooling to 93,118 in February and 92,208 in March.
The Classic 350 remains the eternal bestseller, followed strongly by Hunter 350 (youth favourite) and Bullet 350. The 350cc platform now contributes over 90% of sales.
They are expanding the mid-size segment with 450cc models (Himalayan, Guerrilla) and modernising the brand while preserving its soul.
Despite a slight softening in Q1, RE continues to dominate the premium leisure motorcycle space.

India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd
Yamaha delivered 64,423 units in January, 61,060 in February, and 63,276 in March.
The FZ-S FI series leads commuter sales, while the R15 V4 and MT-15 dominate the performance segment among enthusiasts.
The Japanese manufacturer balances everyday commuters with aspirational sport bikes.
Consistent refinement, handling, and brand prestige help Yamaha hold a strong position in the 125-155cc performance category.
Classic Legends Pvt Ltd (Jawa)
Classic Legends (Jawa) recorded 5,029 units in January, 4,562 in February, and 4,424 in March.
The brand continues to offer retro-styled motorcycles with modern engineering under the Jawa, Jawa 42, and Perak lineup.
Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd
Piaggio sold 2,991 units in January, 2,904 in February, and 3,000 in March.
Best known for the Vespa scooter, the brand focuses on premium, stylish urban mobility with Italian flair. Their strategy revolves around fashion, comfort, and premium positioning rather than mass volumes.
While numbers remain small, the brand enjoys strong loyalty and commands a distinct niche in the scooter market.

India Kawasaki Motors Pvt Ltd
Kawasaki moved 485 units in January, 363 in February, and 401 in March.
As a pure premium performance brand, they sell motorcycles like the Ninja series, Z900, and Versys. Their strategy is halo-driven, bringing superbike technology and thrill to Indian enthusiasts.
Volumes are naturally low due to high pricing and import duties, but Kawasaki enjoys strong brand prestige and a loyal community of riders who value Japanese engineering excellence and track performance.
BMW India Pvt Ltd
BMW Motorrad sold 624 units in January, 416 in February, and 404 in March.
They cater to the ultra-premium segment with adventure tourers (GS series), roadsters, and heritage models. BMW’s strategy is exclusivity and technology leadership, offering advanced rider aids, premium build, and powerful engines.
While volumes are tiny, the brand builds significant aspirational value and supports a growing adventure riding culture in India.
Ducati India Pvt Ltd
Ducati recorded just 49 units in January, 35 in February, and 25 in March.
As the most exotic Italian superbike brand, they focus on pure passion, design, and performance (Panigale, Monster, Multistrada).
