Tata Motors has confirmed the launch of the Punch EV facelift for February 20, as a mid-cycle refresh for the popular electric micro SUV.

The changes draw inspiration from the recent ICE Punch facelift, focusing on sharper looks, better tech, and possible range improvements.

Design

The Punch EV facelift introduces a cleaner front end with a sealed grille and full-width LED DRLs. The bumper gets vertical slats and a textured faux skid plate for a bolder look. Headlamps sit in triangular pods below the DRLs.

On the sides, it gets new aero-optimised 16-inch alloy wheels, but the overall profile remains unchanged, retaining the muscular haunches and thick cladding. Though Tata has not yet revealed its rear, expect connected LED taillamps similar to its ICE counterpart and a revised bumper.

The facelift will come in two new colour options - the familiar Sunlit Yellow with a black roof seen on the Harrier and Tiago EV, and a dark copper shade. An integrated spoiler and shark fin antenna enhance the sporty vibe.

Interior and Features

The new Punch EV’s cabin could get noticeable upgrades for a more premium feel, such as a dual-tone theme, new upholstery, and ventilated front seats, with electric power adjustment for the driver.

The current 10.25-inch infotainment unit could make way for a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with a fresh UI, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a premium Dolby Atmos audio system.

Existing features like the sunroof, wireless charging, connected car technology, and automatic climate control are expected to be retained.

Tata Punch EV Battery Specifications

Battery options will most likely carry over from the current model. These include a 25 kWh pack for up to 315 km range, producing 82 hp with 114 Nm torque, and a bigger 35 kWh pack with around 421 km range, providing 122 hp and 190 Nm. Both batteries may be tuned for slightly improved range.

Charging includes a 3.3 kW wall box, 7.2 kW fast charger, and DC fast charging that reaches 10-80% in 56 minutes. 0-100 km/h comes in under 9.5 seconds for the long-range model.

Safety

The Punch EV, just like its ICE counterpart, is proven to be a safe car, achieving a 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. This is thanks to its solid architecture and safety features like standard six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, TPMS, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Higher trims add a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, along with an electronic parking brake. Tata may introduce standard or possibly even Level 2 ADAS features with the Punch EV facelift.

Tata Punch EV Facelift Expected Price

The facelifted Punch EV will continue to rival the Citroen eC3. Prices will be revealed at the time of launch. Expect Tata to price it slightly above the current model’s ₹9.99 lakh to ₹14.44 lakh range (ex-showroom), owing to all the upgrades.
