A total of 1,17,332 units have been sold compared to 88,675 units recorded in May 2025, marking a strong 32.3% year on year growth.
Following are the bestsellers with all their key sales figures information.

1. Mahindra Scorpio

The Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N combined) was the highest selling midsize SUV in May with 15,774 units sold, with a 9.5% YoY growth and a 13.4% segment share.
This ladder frame SUV is available with multiple powertrain options, primarily featuring the reliable 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engine that delivers between 130-175 hp and up to 400 Nm of torque depending on the variant. It also offers a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing over 200 hp.
Buyers can choose between 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, with higher variants equipped with 4x4 capability and low-range gearing.

2. Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta was the second highest selling SUV with 15,235 units sold, with 2.5% YoY growth and a 13% segment share.
The Creta offers a versatile range of powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing around 115 hp, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine delivering approximately 160 hp, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with around 116 hp.
Transmission choices include 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, CVT, and DCT.
3. Maruti Suzuki Victoris

The latest model in its segment, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris recorded a sales of 10,853 units, holding a 9.2% segment share in May.
It offers efficient powertrain options such as a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine producing around 102-103 hp, a strong hybrid petrol system offering higher efficiency with combined output around 114 hp and e-CVT transmission, along with a CNG variant.
It is available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, with an all-wheel drive configuration on select variants.
4. Mahindra Thar

Mahindra's Thar comes next with a recorded 10,787 units, with a 3.8% YoY growth, and securing 9.2% segment share.
The Thar is equipped with capable powertrain options, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 150 hp and a 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering approximately 130 hp (with a 1.5-litre diesel option in some variants).
It offers 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions in both rear-wheel drive and 4x4 configurations with low-range gearing.
5. Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos is ranked fifth in terms of sales with 10,597 units sold, compared to 6082 units recorded in May 2025. It is also one of the strongest YoY performers in the category with a massive 74.2% growth.
This Creta sibling provides strong powertrain options, such as a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing around 115 hp, a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine delivering approximately 160 hp, and a 1.5-litre diesel producing 116 bhp.
Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, CVT, &-speed DCT, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

6. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Next up is the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, recorded a sale of 9,366 units with a massive 80.2% YoY growth and an 8% segment share.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara features efficient powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine producing around 103 hp, a strong hybrid petrol system for superior efficiency, and a CNG option.
Just like the Victoris, it gets a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and an e-CVT transmission.
7. Mahindra XUV 7XO

The Mahindra XUV 7XO, likely thanks to its facelift, saw its sales skyrocketing from 6,435 units in May 2025 to 9,338 units in May 2026, recording a 45.1% YoY growth.
This premium SUV offers powerful powertrain options, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 197-200 hp and 380 Nm of torque, and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine delivering up to 183 hp and 450 Nm.
It is available with 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions, with select diesel variants offering all-wheel drive.
8. Toyota Hyryder

The Toyota Hyryder ranked 8th, with a total of 8,664 units sold as of May 2026, while the YoY growth is a steady 14.1%.
The Hyryder is equipped with efficient powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine producing around 103 hp, a strong hybrid system delivering combined output of approximately 114-116 hp, and a CNG variant.
It is available with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive configurations on select variants.
9. Mahindra XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S is the manufacturer's third born EV, launched late last year. Till May 2026, a total of 3,502 units have been sold, with a 3.0% segment share.
It comes with three battery pack options - 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh, delivering power outputs ranging from around 228-286 hp with 380 Nm of torque and single-speed automatic transmission in rear-wheel drive configuration.
The XEV 9S gets a range of 520 to 680 km, depending on the battery pack.

10. Tata Harrier

Rounding out the top 10, the Tata Harrier boasts the highest YoY growth overall with 214%, with sales going from 894 units last year to an immense 2,815 units in May 2026.
The Harrier offers robust powertrain options, including a 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine producing 167 hp and 350 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine delivering 167 hp and 280 Nm.
Both are available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
