Kia EV6 Overview

Updated on October 10, 2025

Kia EV6 is a premium electric crossover designed for urban residents, offering strong range, rapid charging, and modern tech, but limited service network may affect affordability.

engine and performance

The 2025 Kia EV6 GT Line AWD is propelled by a dual-motor system, with one motor on each axle, providing all-wheel drive capability. This configuration delivers a combined power output of 321 bhp and a substantial 605 Nm of torque. The immediate torque delivery inherent in electric motors results in strong acceleration from a standstill, making the EV6 feel quick and agile in city traffic and effortless during overtaking maneuvers on the highway. Kia claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of approximately 5.3 seconds, which is quite impressive for a vehicle of its size and segment.

The larger 84 kWh battery pack, an upgrade from the previous 77.4 kWh unit, contributes to an increased ARAI-certified range of 663 km. In real-world city driving conditions, accounting for traffic and air conditioning usage, one can realistically expect a range of around 450-500 km. Highway range may be slightly less depending on cruising speed and driving style. The EV6 supports ultra-fast DC charging at up to 350 kW, allowing for a rapid 10-80% charge in approximately 18 minutes under optimal conditions. Standard AC charging using a 7.2 kW wall box typically takes around 12 hours for a full charge. The powertrain operates smoothly and quietly, with minimal motor noise noticeable inside the cabin during normal driving.

Ride and Handling

The Kia EV6 provides a comfortable ride quality, particularly well-suited for urban driving where it effectively absorbs smaller bumps and uneven road surfaces. The suspension setup is tuned to filter out minor road imperfections, contributing to a comfortable experience for passengers. However, larger potholes or sharp bumps on the road can be felt more noticeably inside the cabin, which is somewhat typical for vehicles with larger wheels and a slightly firm suspension tuning. At higher speeds, the ride remains stable and composed on well-maintained surfaces.

Handling is surprisingly agile and responsive for an electric crossover of its size and weight. The low centre of gravity, a benefit of the underfloor battery pack, contributes to minimal body roll when cornering. The steering is precise and offers good feedback, making it easy to maneuver through city traffic and tight parking areas. The turning radius is manageable for a vehicle of this class, aiding in ease of parking and U-turns. Panic braking performance is competent, with the ABS and EBD systems ensuring stable deceleration, although the tuning of the regenerative braking system can feel slightly abrupt if not anticipated by the driver. Overall, the EV6 achieves a good balance between ride comfort and capable handling, making it pleasant for both daily city commutes and occasional spirited drives.

interior

Stepping inside the 2025 Kia EV6 reveals a modern and digitally focused cabin environment. The dashboard is dominated by a new integrated curved panoramic display that seamlessly houses both the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system within a single frame. Seating space is a notable positive, especially in the rear, benefiting significantly from the flat floor enabled by the dedicated EV platform. In the second row, three average-sized adults can be accommodated for shorter city commutes, but two will experience excellent comfort and ample legroom on longer journeys. Headroom is also quite good for most occupants.

The interior utilizes a mix of materials, including soft-touch surfaces and some harder plastics. While the overall fit and finish are generally of high quality and contribute to a premium feel in many areas, some plastic elements might feel less luxurious when compared to certain direct European luxury competitors in the same price range.

The seats are upholstered in premium dual-tone fabric and offer good support, with power adjustments and ventilation features for the front seats. Storage spaces are reasonably practical, including a large open area beneath the floating centre console, although smaller storage spots for items like water bottles could be more conveniently designed. The cargo capacity is 520 litres, which is adequate for typical family needs, capable of holding a couple of large suitcases along with some smaller bags. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split to increase luggage volume when necessary.

Infotainment

The focal point of the 2025 Kia EV6's interior technology is the integrated dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic display. This setup provides a sophisticated and high-tech feel, presenting information clearly and attractively. The infotainment system is intuitive to navigate with sharp graphics and generally responsive touch controls.

It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, which is a convenient feature for seamless smartphone integration without the clutter of cables. Integrated navigation is included, and the system offers various EV-specific functionalities such as locating charging stations and monitoring energy flow.

The GT Line AWD variant comes equipped with a premium 14-speaker Meridian sound system, which delivers excellent audio quality throughout the cabin. Connectivity options include multiple USB Type-C ports for both charging and data transfer. The system also incorporates Kia Connect 2.0, providing access to over 100 connected car features, including remote diagnostics and the capability for over-the-air (OTA) software updates for various vehicle systems. While the system is generally stable and user-friendly, occasional minor lags or the need for a restart have been reported in some instances; however, OTA updates are intended to address such issues over time. The sheer number of features can initially seem daunting, but the layout is logical for daily use.

exterior

The 2025 Kia EV6 maintains its distinctive crossover coupe profile but incorporates subtle yet noticeable design updates. The front fascia is refreshed with new angular LED daytime running lights that seamlessly integrate with the updated headlamp units, creating Kia's recognizable 'Star Map' lighting signature.

A revised front bumper and lower grille contribute to a sharper and more modern look. From the side, the flush-fitting door handles and the gracefully sloping roofline underscore its aerodynamic and premium appearance. New 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are introduced, adding a fresh visual element to the side profile. The rear sees minimal changes, primarily involving a new design for the full-width LED taillights and a slightly tweaked bumper, preserving its unique rear-end styling.

In terms of size, the EV6 measures 4695 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1570 mm in height. Its wheelbase is a generous 2900 mm, which is a key factor in providing ample interior space. The ground clearance is rated at 160 mm, which is generally sufficient for navigating typical city roads but requires caution when encountering larger speed breakers or uneven surfaces. The design, while visually striking and modern, does slightly impact practicality, particularly affecting rear visibility due to the steeply raked rear window. The 2025 model is available in India in five colour options: Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Wolf Gray, and Yacht Blue Matte. Since it is offered exclusively in the GT Line AWD variant, there are no exterior styling differences based on trim level.

safety

Safety is a significant strength of the Kia EV6, underscored by its 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. While it has not yet been tested by Bharat NCAP, the high scores achieved in Euro NCAP tests indicate a strong level of occupant protection. The EV6 is built on Kia's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which incorporates high-strength steel in its construction, contributing to a rigid chassis designed to effectively absorb impact energy during a collision. It comes equipped with a comprehensive array of safety features as standard, including 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The 2025 EV6 also features Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS 2.0) with over 25 functions. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go, and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor. These systems enhance safety in various driving situations, particularly in congested city traffic and during highway cruising. The vehicle's stability control systems are well-calibrated to maintain control during sudden evasive maneuvers, and the braking performance is generally strong, although effective panic braking requires firm pedal pressure, especially considering the vehicle's weight. Driving in challenging weather conditions like heavy rain feels secure thanks to the AWD system and electronic aids.

competition

The 2025 Kia EV6 GT Line AWD operates in the premium electric vehicle segment in India, competing with models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo C40 Recharge, Volvo EX40, BMW iX1, and Mercedes-Benz EQA.

When comparing these vehicles based on performance, running cost (primarily range), and price-to-feature ratio, the EV6 presents a strong case. Its 321 bhp and 605 Nm torque output is among the highest in this group, providing quicker acceleration than rivals like the Ioniq 5 (217 bhp RWD) and BMW iX1 (308 bhp AWD). While the Volvo C40/EX40 (408 bhp AWD variants) offer higher peak power, the EV6's single AWD variant provides a potent and balanced performance.

In terms of running costs, all these EVs offer significant savings over traditional fuel vehicles. The EV6's larger 84 kWh battery and impressive 663 km ARAI range are competitive, potentially offering a longer usable range than rivals like the Ioniq 5 (72.6 kWh, 631 km ARAI) or BMW iX1 (66.4 kWh, 417 km WLTP). Its 350 kW DC fast charging capability is also a notable advantage, reducing charging time on long journeys.

Priced at ₹65.97 Lakh (ex-showroom), the EV6 is positioned above the more affordable Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹46.05 Lakh) but is competitively priced against the Volvo C40 Recharge (₹62.95 Lakh), EX40 (₹56.10 Lakh), BMW iX1 (₹66.90 Lakh), and Mercedes-Benz EQA (₹67.20 Lakh).

The EV6 offers a comprehensive standard feature list in its single variant, including Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, and a premium sound system, providing a strong price-to-feature ratio within the premium segment. While the Hyundai Ioniq 5 stands out as the value-for-money champion due to its significantly lower price, the EV6 offers a better balance of performance, range, and features compared to many European rivals at a competitive price point. Considering the combination of strong performance, impressive range, and rapid charging, the Kia EV6 is a top performer among its direct competitors, particularly given the comprehensive package offered in its single GT Line AWD variant.

final verdict

For the discerning Indian buyer, particularly those residing in urban areas with reliable access to charging infrastructure, the 2025 Kia EV6 GT Line AWD represents a compelling proposition in the premium electric crossover segment.

it offers a strong return on investment for those who prioritize cutting-edge EV technology and performance. It effectively combines a futuristic design with potent performance, a segment-competitive ARAI range of 663 km, and a feature-rich cabin equipped with advanced technology like Level 2 ADAS and ultra-fast charging capabilities. When compared to its rivals, the EV6 strikes a good balance, offering more performance and range than the value-focused Ioniq 5 and competing effectively on features and price with European alternatives such as the Volvo C40/EX40, BMW iX1, and Mercedes-Benz EQA.

The EV6 is a worthwhile purchase for buyers who value strong driving dynamics, reduced range anxiety, and the adoption of advanced automotive technology presented in a stylish package. Its capabilities make it well-suited for city use, while the extended range ensures practicality for inter-city travel.

As it is offered in a single, fully loaded GT Line AWD variant, this is the recommended choice for anyone considering the 2025 EV6. It provides the maximum available performance, range, and features, justifying the premium price for those who can afford it and prioritize these aspects in their electric vehicle.
