Top 10 Features in the MG Hector Facelift

MG Motor has given the Hector its second facelift. Priced starting from ₹11.99 lakh, this refreshed model gets small changes to keep it competitive in its segment, and interestingly, has become affordable by ₹2 lakh.

The exterior sees minor cosmetic updates and new colour options, though the interior feels new with a fresh layout and upholstery. It only comes with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine for now, with diesel variants arriving in 2026.

Below are the Hector’s top 10 features, explained briefly.

Aura Hex Grille Design

The front-end now features an Aura Hex grille with chrome vertical slats and a bigger air vent, giving the Hector a bolder, more imposing presence.

Apart from the grille, it carries over the existing LED headlights and DRLs, while the new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels elevate the side profile. All variants get 18-inch alloys, helping the SUV stand out on the road.

New Dashboard Layout and Upholstery

The cabin now offers Ice Grey upholstery for the Hector and Urban Tan shade for the Hector Plus. Both use soft-touch materials and gloss black elements for a premium feel.

Overall, the new horizontal AC vents and updated upholstery make the space look open.

The new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system includes i-Swipe gestures. Swipe two fingers to adjust AC or three to control music and volume.

It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus dedicated apps for navigation and streaming. The digital instrument cluster for the driver shows clear information. The entire system runs smoothly with no delays.

Infinity by Harman Premium Audio

The Infinity by Harman audio system provides good sound quality with 8 speakers, with clear audio and strong bass that reaches all seats.

Active noise cancellation is standard in top variants like Sharp Pro, making long road trips enjoyable.

Level 2 ADAS

MG Hector ADAS Level 2

The Hector continues to get Level 2 ADAS, featuring adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision warnings, traffic jam assist and automatic emergency braking.

Blind spot monitoring through Cameras and sensors is perfect for crowded cities, and drivers encountering packed bumper-to-bumper traffic daily.

Six airbags and ESP will likely be standard, adding assurance, especially on highways.

360-Degree Camera with Wheel View

The 360-degree camera on higher variants gives a top-down view on the screen from four cameras. The wheel view shows tyre positions to help in tight parking spaces, providing clarity even in rain or at night.

This makes manoeuvring the large SUV in tricky or crowded spaces a lot simpler, preventing small accidents.

Ventilated Front Seats

The ventilated front seats keep you cool in hot weather, with three cooling levels.

The leatherette material is easy to clean and lasts well.

6-Way Powered Driver Seat

The 6-way powered driver seat can be adjusted forward, backwards, up, down, and tilted with dedicated button controls, suiting different drivers. Lumbar support helps with back comfort on long drives. The memory function saves seating positions for different drivers.

Digital Auto Key and Proximity Access

MG Hector facelift Digital Bluetooth Key

The digital auto key lets you use your phone to lock/unlock and even turn on the ignition to drive the car.

The proximity sensors unlock the doors when you get close and lock when you get out and walk away from the car. It connects via Bluetooth for secure access.

This saves time and is especially convenient when travelling with luggage or carrying large shopping bags. Geo-fencing adds extra security against theft.

Inbuilt Storage and OTA Updates

The infotainment has VRAM that expands to 10GB for running multiple apps at once, like maps and music, avoiding slowdowns during heavy use.

Over-the-air updates improve the system from anywhere and keep the tech running smoothly over time. This is standard across all variants, meaning fewer visits to service centers for system updates.

While not major, these updates do enough to keep the SUV competent in its segment.

The MG Hector rivals other 5-seater SUVs like the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Honda Elevate. The Hector Plus on the other hand, goes up against 7-seater rivals such as the Hyundai Alcazar, XUV700 (soon to be 7XO), and the Tata Safari.
